Removed options from LCI X7
Thought we could keep a running tally of what has been removed from the LCI X7. If this thread has already been created, apologies. We know that the 40i lost IAP/DHP with no return date. I saw this posted recently, anyone have any insights? Looks like the LCI (40i at least)lost the sky lounge LEDs

I ordered my 40i on 11/16/23. The build sheet shows it is still included with the package. I know that can change, but when I run my VIN through Edmunds, it still shows it as included in the package. Also, my car is currently listed on the BMW of Bellevue website because it is currently in transit and scheduled to arrive in a couple a couple of weeks. Sky Lounge is still noted in the options list. Being that it's tied to the VIN and the VIN search shows it as included, I am guessing it is still on the build. I've contacted the Genius several times throughout the proccess and asked if anything had been removed from my build. IAS had been removed, as expected, but never any mention of the Sky Lounge. I'll know for sure here in a couple of weeks, but I would bet it is there.

Weird. The trend am seeing is that micro-chips shortages on BMW side is getting better and better, and there are signals that they will bring back DHP and IAS back to the 40i soon now. So, I don't see that Sky Lounge would be removed for two reasons: Supply chain issues are getting better, 2. Sky lounge is not a popular items and there it's one of those items that has high availability-to-demand ratio. Check if your dealer tried to (individually pick options) instead of choosing (Luxury package). Perhaps it is only available if picked as part of luxury.

Odd thread, but I’ll play. Think it’s been covered quite a bit across multiple threads, but to collect everything in a single thread is good.
Not sure why keep a tally of what was lost unless we also start a thread on what was gained/added. Anyway, from my 2021 M50i to my 2023 M60i this is what was lost. - rear exterior door touch lock/unlock - shifter changed to toggle/lever - ACC distance controls on steering wheel - all AC controls via buttons - 8 shortcut buttons - metal lock/unlock buttons on front doors - Adaptive mode button - ability to turn off Auto start/stop (ASS) Now for what’s been added in general - pano curved screen with ID8 - new motor for M60i - I think updated B58 motor as well for 40i - 48v mild hybrid on M60i - grille lighting - new badging - split headlight (love or hate them) - tail light redesign - parking assist Coming in 2024 MY (late 2023) - highway assist - ID 8.5/9 - and possibly more… |

Ah…hopefully they gain a lot more back based on the recent news of MY24 updates.
One of the reasons I opted for the M60i was to ensure it came with everything. The most drastic cuts from the X7 came on the pre-LCI between the 2020-2021 years. Pretty much gutted a lot of cool features. |

Mine came with Alcantara , but maybe because I chose the option for the Alcantara head liner to match the Ivory interior.

That’s the only way to have it. I have the ivory/gray individual interior, and I wanted the gray alcantara headliner instead of ivory; the sunroof shade is fabric. My 2019 50i had the ivory/navy individual interior, navy headliner, and alcantara sunroof shade. I assumed it’d be the same in the 23…one more way they cut corners.

Sky lounge not being available seems like a good thing.

Sky lounge in the X7, in my opinion, is as good as RR stars if not even more classy (just my fully biased opinion).
The only design element that my wife and I reacted to like (WOOOWWWWW) was the Sky Lounge at night. Everything else was like, within expectations, yeah as expected, but Sky Lounge really brings joy. |

Typical of Rolls mentality for making it far too laborious to produce which is why its labor cost makes it more $$$ than it needs to be for what it is. Understand the led bulbs can’t be replaced and it is plagued with having technical issues (another RR trend). My main issue is it’s a fixed ceiling and because of that gives the interior a cave like feeling without a panoramic glass. The trade off of not having a panoramic glass during daylight hours isn’t worth it which is something we don’t have to sacrifice in a BMW. BMW sky lounge may not be animated but typical of Germanic engineering is reliable and offered a similar experience at a fraction of the cost. I can tell you that everyone, regardless of their automotive experience is floored when they get my second row movie experience in my X7. Last edited by MystroX5; 02-09-2023 at 06:36 AM.. |
