Even disregarding the fact truck people tend to be brand loyal.
There is not a $20K difference between the two loaded up. A loaded Raptor super crew is around $78K. A loaded TRX is $90K

Loaded up is where there is a difference of 20K. If I pick every single option that the Raptor offers without hitting the accessories tab it's 74.7K. If I pick every option the TRX offers but not the Ram Bar it's 96K. Ram has no accessories options listed currently. That's a 21K difference.

If I build it how I think people would probably build each of them...on the cheap side then the Raptor comes in at 63K and the TRX at 77K. That's base package option with towing option and bed utility. So a 14K difference in that config.

I haven't looked at the comparos side by side, but it was my impression the Raptor was geared mainly towards a watered-down/road "trophy-truck" type, in that it had ample suspension travel, strong chassis and torque, but not necessarily the fastest top speed or anything. You always see pictures of them jumping (and there's the guy that broke his in half doing the same). Is the TRX intended for the same thing?

I just priced out a loaded 2020 Raptor super crew and the MSRP is $78,125. I also priced out a comparably optioned TRX and the MSRP is $92,150. $14K difference.

It was a significant amount of money to go from the 6 in the 2021 X5 to the M50i with the V8. It is not unusual for significantly more powerful drivetrains to cost quite a bit more. I don't know about other option differences and availability, but I do know that my 2019 RAM is my first real truck and I am very happy with it.
