V8 oil consumption issues?

I was curious if anyone of us with V8 are experiencing oil consumption issues? My 2015 X5 50i uses 2 quarts of oil every 2K miles. I didn't even realize that there was a lawsuit against BMW which might explain why dealers are happy to top off oil every couple months... hopefully my 2021 m50i won't have this issue.

No. My (just traded in) 2019 X5 50i M-Sport didn’t use any extra oil. In fact I checked it often looking for any sign of oil usage and it didn’t use any after a 2200 mile road trip. There is a dip stick in the 50i engines. I haven’t checked yet if there is a dip stick in the M50i engines.

My 16 X5 50 used oil, I always had to add a couple quarts a couple times between oil changes. It seemed to get worse after every change. My dealer didn't charge so I never worried about it.

I'm under 6k/9 months on the X7 and haven't had any warnings yet.

I generally change mine every 5,000 miles and so far I haven't had to add any oil; its remains full... I agree with Philly, I'd change it... You would be surprised at the amount of fuel that get past the rings at startup, with these direct injection engines its the nature of the beast...

Quick update on our 2021 M50i with 3500 miles so far...no discernible usage. Oil still reads max.

We have been keeping track on the forum with last 2019 G05 V8TT and the new 2020 M50i V8TT with any oil loss/burn issues and the results have been perfect.

No one is experiencing any oil loss or burn. I have been running multiple long distance (2200 mile) trips and had absolutely zero oil loss after the trips. I feel very confident BMW addressed the issue with the last GO5 V8TT engine and certainly with their latest M50i V8TT engine. I have owned both V8 engines.

You need to switch your oil from bmw brand. That solved oil consumption for me.

I have M50i for 15 months now and have not seen any oil consumption issues.
Keep in mind the M50i engine is different that the 50i, it is made with spray on technology so bores are created very differently and behave differently than the old gen engines
