Windshield Tinting

I know there has been a few threads about tinting in general, but I wanted to get some feedback from anyone who has tinted their Front Windshield.

I'm not talking about 30% VLT, more like the differences/experience with the below:
- Air 80/90
- Stratos 70

I'm thinking of going with the following:
Front - Llumar Stratos 30
Rears - Llumar Stratos 70
Windshield - Llumar Stratos 70

I initially wanted Air 80/90, but the shop I'm using is saying the Air 80/90 doesn't do very much and the Stratos 70 looks almost the same but blocks much more heat.

Thoughts?

I did the following:
Front : Formula One Pinnacle 50
Rears: Formula One Pinnacle 35
Sunroofs: Formula One Pinnacle 35
Windshield Formula One Air 80

I thought about getting Stratos but the price was more than double and the difference is minimal.

This is 6th car I've had Air 80 on the windshield and it makes a huge difference in overall heat reduction.

The installer I've worked with the last 10 years also says the cost/benefit is not there for stratos.

For what it's worth do the best tint you can get where you use the lightest tint. If you can afford to do the whole vehicle then do that. There is a significant difference. I am currently using XPEL Prime XR Plus on every glass but I am most amazed at the windshield and sunroof because the tint there is lighter and they work like much darker tint in lower lines/brands. Vehicle is always comfortable.

I think the minimum and maximum should be 70% for the windshield. 60% seems to be a little dark at night. I do it mostly for the heat shield/ Uv blocking benefits.

All my cars have Huper Optik 70% on the windshield.

I have always gone Huper 30% all around including the panoramic glass roof. The rear privacy glasses are generally just a dark tint with little to no heat shielding and UV protecting abilities.

You can look up the technical specs of all the name brand options. Best heat rejection is photosync but they don't make a 80 or 90 film. The highest they go is 75. Keep in mind, Depending on whether your state laws allow it, it meters below 70.

How do you guys with tinted windshields manage the yearly inspection stickers?

Find a shop that will pass you and hand you the sticker or do they just replace and not notice without damaging the tint? Thanks.

it's highly illegal, so I'd like to know too. they must be bribing someone.

You put the sticker shield on the area the inspection sticker goes. They stick it on the sticker shield. Then when you get home, trim to size and realign.

Has the added benefit of satisfying my ocd of not having to stare at a crooked inspection sticker for one year. Some of these guys just stick it on like they were drunk when doing it

I too have Photosync on all of my windows incl the roof and windshield. Love the excellent heat rejection

I always do Formula One Pinnacle on my BMWs

20% on sides .. 50% on windshield ... never an issue with night visibility and makes the tint look even all around the vehicle

In NJ its a 5-year new car sticker obtained at the dealership ... don't let them apply the sticker or front plate bracket. Neither go on the car ... rinse and repeat every 36 months
