Updated my car and lost Apple CarPlay and can't find out what version I'm running now?? Am I doing something wrong, or is it time? It took about 10 minutes and updated without bricking the car or the iDrive system. But after restarting certain features are missing? 7.2020/54

What features are missing other than CarPlay?

Did you try rebooting iDrive to see if it comes back? You might have to go into iDrive and select CarPlay again. Some settings have to be re-enabled after an update.

That's just bizarre! The following SIB addresses this and 07/2020.54 should have resolved this issue. I'm guessing you didn't have this issue before the update. The SIB does state that if the problem persists to continue troubleshooting. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...79010-9999.pdf

Called BMW Connected and was going to be sent over to Genius' but they were gone for the day. Told me that "I'm not the only one" and that many people have called today to report that they lost all their services with the update. So, I'm not alone.

Correct, did not have this issue before the update. Had no issues. So what's the fix? A trip to the dealer? UGH

Interesting.... I have never experienced any of those bugs.

Possibly a dealer visit if they don't have some other method of doing this. Perhaps it's a communication issue with the connected drive server. Now that they are pushing these updates out in mass the servers might be getting overloaded.

Maybe they will return after the car sits at sleep over night. I checked my apps right after doing the update. I also forced an "Update apps and services" to see if anything new got added or if anything changed in the apps. Everything was the same as it was before the update.

It'll be interesting to see if this becomes more widespread as more vehicles get this update.

Well I did the update today with success at my house. Although, as a precaution I strategically parked my X7 in my driveway for easy access for a flatbed should my X7 have become bricked. Update took approx 10 min with all systems functional once complete. The only "glitch" I noticed was that the apps did not work right away. All apps were present in the menu, but for about a minute or so after the update was complete, when clicking on an app, it did not do anything. Also, during this period I noticed that some of the app icons flickered a bit - definitely a bit weird. However, after that minute or so, all apps opened normally and the flickering stopped.

I did not go for a drive after the update so I don't know what, if any, new features or bug fixes may be in the update. I am curious if one bug in particular was fixed, which is the steering wheel heat coming on with remote start when the steering wheel heat is not supposed to come on based on the climate rules setting. If that bug is not fixed, my dealer already told me I could come in for a warranty update when 11/2020 is released - which technically should be out now.

Awesome! Happy it worked for you! I drove mine 2 hours to the dealer I bought it from for the fix. (Some dealer service centers are so much better than others)

Drove in. Diagnosed with a tech. Service guy said needed to do a refresh of the computer system? All apps are back and working, running the 7/2020.54 update now... hopefully doesn't continue to happen with OTA's for me.

Looks like 11/2020 is in my future. The 7/2020.54 update did not fix the Remote Start/Steering Wheel Heat issue I had recently mentioned to my dealer. Looking forward to 11/2020 update as according recent info in another thread I saw seems like there are some additional advanced driving features added to the semi-autonomous system. But not sure if these updates will be applicable to vehicles in the US though....

I have the most recent 7/2020.54 OTA update and I no longer have the “classic input” for finding a destination. I can’t search by street number, street, city, and state. Only options now are where to, my destinations and received destination. Also still no tachometer in sport mode only.

Welcome to BMW's inability to provide meaningful updates and to break things in the process of pushing out those meaningless non intuitive updates.
Consider carefully what these new updates provide before installing an OTA update or allowing your dealer to install the update.

The tach display is a known issue and BMW hasn't been able to or refuses to fix it in the last three updates. Pretty typical of BMW from what I've noticed in my first year of ownership with a BMW.
