So youtubers and stuff and bigger people on social media always say it for legal reasons partly as a joke too and it just trickled down.

Plus, people who often post videos of them racing online have very rarely had legal issues, but even though this is a joke they might think it protects them a little.

Also, some Karen on the internet who doesn't know would actually believe its Mexico, and if she knew it was her local highway she'd probably tell the cops.
