I’ve had cars shipped to me but they were rare colors or options that weren’t available in the area. In the OP’s case shipping a car from California to Illinois wouldn’t save or benefit him in any way.

Hey wannabe forum police, I know several people that saved over $10K on their deals with Greg. So you're saying it wouldn't be worth it to pay hundreds on shipping to save thousands?

And since when are you the spokesperson for the OP? FOH

Those were my thoughts exactly..The most I've ever paid shipping halfway across the country was $1k. Big deal.

In this day and age, you can always try and make a deal where they cover the cost of shipping. Usually, dealerships have better contacts and do it so much, they can get a far more reasonable price. Always worth a shot as all it takes is a motivated dealer who wants to earn your business and make a sale.

Good for you forum tough guy and I referred someone in the area that can match or beat that deal. Saving $2k in shipping fees.
For a tough guy you sure seem like a big cry baby. Sheesh.

I’ve shipped one car from California and had multiple quotes in the past year to ship another. Enclosed carrier is easily $2k from a reputable transporter in enclosed trailer and about $1500 not enclosed. If you’re using Joe Schmoe service then you’re probably right.

Higher volume dealers can offer higher discounts. We have a big market here in Chicago so there’s no way a dealer in California could offer a discount steep enough on a new car with shipping that it would beat Bill Jacobs or Knauz. Used cars are a toss up with many variables so that’s a possibility.

Greg Poland is really good with custom orders, especially Individual Colors. If you are ordering you can arrange a courtesy delivery at a dealer in your area for $500-$1000, you save on shipping and the car arrives faster if you are in the Eastern US.

Yeah that can be done from any dealer. Since the X7 is manufactured in South Carolina it only makes sense that people on the East Coast would get their orders quicker.

This all seems humorous.....Knauz, Bill Jacobs....in the grand scheme of things these dealers have never been competitive in terms of new car pricing.

Don't limit yourself to Chicago. I've picked up several $100k BMW's over the last 10-12 years and I don't even bother contacting any of the dealers in IL or WI anymore. It's a waste of time.

While a good dealership and excellent service department these guys are not easy to negotiate with; I am on my 4th car from them now / same client adviser so things have been a little easier. Tried others in the area - not a big difference, Elmhurst was the least flexibility and generally had lighter inventory.

Yes, Elmhurst is definitely one of the smallest dealers in the Chicago area but it’s 5 minutes from our house so really convenient. Plus this is our 3rd BMW that we’ve been taking there for service (first bought from there) so we have a bit of a relationship. So in summary, not awful. :-)

Bill Jacobs and Laurel both made the top 35 in the country last year.

Maybe the problem isn’t the dealer?

If you purchase out of state, make a road trip out of it. I picked up my X7 on the east coast and did a solo 1,600+ mile drive back to CO. It was a blast! The X7 is such a superb long-distance vehicle.

I can refer you to a decent deal in dutchess county. 8-9% plus $3,500 rebate on purchase or $1,500 on lease, assuming you qualify for BMW loyalty...otherwise $2,500/$500. That offer expires 3/1, not sure what next month is though

PM...glad to share dealer contact. Otherwise you can get similar pricing from brokers on here, but dealer fee is $6-700 and broker fee around $400
