Yup your sales person is wrong. Unfortunately full is no longer available unless it's the ivory white/night blue combo. My wife and I don't really like that combo which among other things pushed me to get the 2020 on order.

Disappointing to hear, but thanks. My goal was to order one on February 1 next year (important date for me), and with this news I was tempted to rush in for a '20 model, but then I got mad thinking about being forced to rush into an expensive new flagship car before I want... so we'll see if hopefully the options I want are available again by the time I'm ready to order, otherwise I guess we'll see, haha.

If you were going for an M50i you probably don't have a choice but to wait at this point since allocations are probably over till 2021 production begins. Good luck either way

He might be doing an individual build for you.

Can they do that??!...i.e. add something that's not in the pricing guide/ordering guide to a build. I've not seen that.

Sure they can submit it as it is part of the BMW Individual or BMW Special Request processes. The question is, will BMW approve it...

So from the post above this post it may be possible but it will depend on BMW I guess to make the final decision. If it does work be sure to let us know.

High probability he could, if he's in the business of doing individual builds with bmw and your order is significant enough "for them" to actually use one of the very limited individual slots.

If I were in your shoes, I would make sure I have everything I wanted in that vehicle which is in the "no no" list before handing it over to them, including laser lights if it's your thing.

I've seen it happen with X5 not the X7 where the interior and exterior colors were in the list of choices for Bentley. Hell red interior including the steering and some strange shade of purple exterior.

So can he do it? Yes
Is he willing ? I don't know.

I have a feeling that COVID had a major impact on these decisions because taking options off their luxury model is not really 'BMW-like'.

I would also like to know why BMW is still offering full leather, night-vision and the RES on the Aplina XB7 for MY21. Is it more likely that these options will be picked on that vehicle and not on a M50i? I don't know...
Was specing out a M50 for 2021 build. New to the board, any input from current owners on how happy they are with the M50i engine? Was going to go with Extended Shadowline, but grey wheels just don’t work. Also, Anyone have the 22” wheels and need to drive in the snow a couple of times a year?

No no no, don't drive the 22" summers in the snow please. They won't be good at all. If you're in NC, you see snow maybe once or twice a year. Don't drive those days. But even still, anything below 40-45 degrees you'll want to be on snows. I will be spec'ing with the 22" 758i wheels and buying a set of 21" 754M BMW winter kit, but I'm in the Northeast.

As for Shadowline, yes many here going w the M50i are ticked by the fact you cannot spec with bi-color black wheels like you can get on the 40i.

Anyone ordering an M50i may want to hold out due to the current AC issues V8 BMW's are experiencing.

Would you mind elaborating on that please.

About to pull the trigger on an XM50i

On a side note. I'm surprised to see there's actually a cls53 👌🏻

There are multiple threads regarding the issue present on the X5 and 8 series forums, but here is the most popular one with the most info.

X5/X5M AC issue.... https://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1729657

Seems to be an issue with V8 models only, with the AC dying completely early in ownership or with it being inconsistent in power. I believe BMW is aware with the issue at the moment.

Some dealers are quoting days to weeks to months regarding replacement/fixes, probably better off waiting for BMW to update the issue than get stuck with a $100k car with no AC during the summer.

Short summary: AC compressors on V8s are having a quality issue apparently. BMW is already aware of it. It should also be noted many people are getting vehicles and they are just fine...hence why I said manufacturing quality issue. Not anything significant enough at this point to deter a M50i purchase....If you're one of the few unlucky people you just have to change the compressor which is nothing to lose sleep over It should also be noted it's happening mostly in other BMW models with V8 engines but I've not seen it pop up in the X7 or if it has it's been so few it's negligible at this point.

They're no longer available since 2017. You can guesstimate around ~7% off MSRP for invoice but that's still a very rough guesstimate.

These days, it's more on how well and how much you can negotiate off MSRP - 10% off MSRP had considered a good reference point for custom ordered vehicles.

Here's background info on why:

Here's some background info:
Staring with model year (MY) 2017 BMW is changing how invoice pricing and dealer compensation works. This has changed the calculations for US invoice pricing and European Delivery pricing, the new calculations are below. Read on to find out why or just jump down to do the calculations.

Back story on why BMW invoice pricing is changing
Last year BMW NA CEO Ludwig Willisch announced that changes that were coming for dealer compensation. His new plan is intended to move BMW from the bottom of the pile in customer satisfaction rating, especially around service. Under the new plan dealerships can earn up to a 1 percent bonus based on 4 criteria. This was BMW NA's way of providing incentives to dealerships to provided a better customer experience and customer loyalty. That 1 percent has to come from somewhere and we now know it is coming out of the invoice price of the car.

For MY 2016 and prior years the difference in price between MSRP and invoice was 8 percent for the vehicle and 9 percent for options and packages. Staring in MY 2017 the discount between MSRP and invoice is 7 percent for the vehicle and options and packages being 8 percent. In effect BMW has taken 1 percent out of the front end of the deal putting it in the back end of the deal as a carrot for dealerships to chase.

This means we will see deals closer to invoice pricing as dealerships push for volume to hit the back end sales targets. BMW has also increased the holdback (more back end money) from 5 percent of vehicle base cost to 5 percent of the sticker price, giving dealership more room to deal on highly optioned vehicles. What happens in the real market is yet to be seen. As 2017s start hitting the show room stay tuned to find out what Bimmerfest members are getting for deals.

So I’m ordering a 21 M50i and the changes mentioned on the options don’t affect me except the full merino leather. I was going to order the tanzanite blue with black full merino. Are we saying that the black full merino is no longer offered?

Correct. You can only get Full Leather Merino with Ivory/Blue for MY2021. Most you can do is get Black Extended Merino and add Leather Dash.
