2022 J.D. Power US Vehicle Dependability Study
BMW is above average and beats other luxury brands such as Mercedes and Audi. I guess I'm never buying a Land Rover, yikes.
J.D. Power conducted the Vehicle Dependability Study on tens of thousands of 2019MY car owners. The analysis revolved around 184 problem areas across the following nine categories: powertrain, infotainment, driver aids, features/controls/displays, climate system, seats, exterior condition, interior condition, and the driving experience. J.D. Power notes mainstream automakers have managed to reach build quality levels similar to those of premium brands. Since these cheaper cars typically have less tech, that makes them more reliable since fewer things can go wrong. https://www.bmwblog.com/2022/02/13/b...ability-study/ |

Funny. My 2021 Hyundai Palisade was a lemon so we got the X7. I did pass on the Audi Q7 due to ratings. Plus we drove it and it has zero cargo room plus no remote start. Genesis QV80 was way too small, same with the Lincoln Aviator. Honestly, would have went with a Lexus GX460 but they haven't been updated in over a decade. The 22s were slightly updated but they need a major refresh. Always heard good things about Lexus and their reliability.
But anyways, hoping for the best for our X7. After 2x Nissan Pathfinder issues and the Palisade, we need a win! |

I loved the Range Rover brand because years ago I thought it was the perfect suv to fit our needs. My wife kept saying she didn't like it and the Carnac salesperson said he would never buy one without a full bumper to bumper warranty. That was the final straw when he told me that so we passed and I'm extremely glad we did. Apparently their reliability has always been trash. They say if you have a RR, you better have a different vehicle as a daily driver because the RR will live at the dealership getting repaired!

Owned a 2006 RR HSE and it was the single worst vehicle experience I've ever had.
I should mention that I have several classic cars with all types of problems associated with 60 year old stuff, but NOTHING was as unreliable as the Range Rover.

I tried to buy a RR a few years ago. Walked into the dealership and couldn't get anyone to acknowledge me. (I'm not their typical target. aka, I'm not Caucasian). So after knocking on various office doors in the dealership, and trying to get anyone to even talk to me, I walked out and went down the street to the MB dealer and bought a vehicle.

Not to disrupt the convo of reliability of Range Robbers (they did switch over to BMW engines for the newest generation so maybe that'll help a bit), but, BMWs position in this ranking isn't exactly great!

Only for the V8 models. Everything else still uses their rubbish-grade "ingeniun" 6 cylinder engines.

Similar to the above, below a link to the latest TUV report from Germany:
https://car-recalls.eu/reliability/t...022-2-3-years/ It is based on 9.6 million technical vehicle inspections in Germany from July 2020 to June 2021. It does not cover 2020 or 2021 produced cars though, nor is X7 listed. |
