EGR fault codes despite removal

I have fitted an EGR delete kit around 2 years ago but of recent i keep getting the following 2 fault codes. Any ideas what could be the cause?

You have a leak somewhere. Unmetered air getting in via intake or some vacume leak.

I once got the 244C00 error in my car and it turned out to be the clips on the turbo actuator had rotted off. Not sure but it's very easy to check if this is your issue to rule it out.
