Finally! First real pics or video of a Dark Shadow model that aren't BMW press photos. Of the Dark Shadow in BMW Welt. Looks pretty sexy, IMHO. You can see the purple hues in the matte Arctic Grey paint at times. Wish the camera was a little more clear on the interior parts. Some things I notice:

- Rear Entertainment shown
- Because it has been in BMW Welt for a month or more, this is likely a pre-production model, but still, as a MY2021 it DOES have both Auto Start/Stop OFF and Eco Pro buttons
- Similarly, volume knob also in crystal
- Standard "M50i" illuminated door sills. I would have expected something unique to Dark Shadow
- Still don't know how I feel about the combo of the black wood w/aluminum inserts, and piano black trims.
- Still don't know how I feel about the black and blue leathers, but think they're nice, at a minimum.

Just found this video, Dark Shadow model appeared in a middle east dealership. Does show the RSE. Good video for seeing what the matte paint looks like in real life. (indoors)

Talking

Just picked up my dark shadow today!

I absolutely love it. The pictures don’t do it justice, I think because it’s hard to take pics of bc the matte. It looks amazing/better in person than in pics imo. This is absolutely the right car for me and to anyone here who has an allocation I definitely would recommend seeing it in person if you’re on the fence, I think you’ll be convinced.

Here’s my attempt at some quick pics today, I can take more if anyone wants:

There's a Dark Shadow model in 40i currently in Abu Dhabi.

Do you have Rear Seat entertainment? Still haven't seen in the flesh if any US cars get the RSE

Mine has RSE added. On the way from the factory, but not sure if I'll be going through with it.

Looks beautiful. There's a blue hue in the Abu Dhabi pictures, but in the op pictures it looks more dark grey. I guess that's what they were talking about that photos don't do justice. Anyway I would love to see it in person.

I'm genuinely curious, can someone explain the point of all the special-edition vehicles?

The black wheels aren't doing this build any favors..

Brushed metal or satin chrome would do it justice.

So another thread on this X7?
It’s just another matte paint job.
You really need to poop or get off the pot by now.

LOL, actually I just posted in the existing Dark Shadow thread. The moderators must have pulled my post out to start a new thread for news purposes.

That Abu Dhabi Dark Shadow 40i certainly is an aberration. It does not appear to have B&W audio, and the rear badging is chrome, not cerium grey. Only Dark Shadow seen with running boards. These things are aligned with 40i, but not for Dark Shadow, which in every other case uses a 50i, which of course also uses the M-sport body style.

Nice SUV no doubt!

I'd prefer that interior in a Hatch Grey or Black Sapphire. Not a fan of ANY matte paint.

Lmao too funny! Is it the matte paint + MSRP you're having a hard time getting past?

*** For context for those who don't know, Wild Blue has been waffling over buying an X7 since 2017 and then surprisingly pre-ordered the 2021 Dark Shadow Edition out of the freaking blue.

Picked mine up earlier this week - the exterior color is very unique and pictures don't do it justice at all. The interior is the finest I've ever seen in a BMW. I've had numerous M5s, 7s, 6s, etc, nothing compares to this so far!

I was initially skeptical but once I saw it, I was sold!

Spacers and links installed, tint coming next week and I'm done!

The amount of attention this thing draws is unreal, my Grigio Telesto Pearl M5C didn't get half the attention this one does.
