Original tires for MY21 M50 22"?

Found my 22"V-spoke come with Continental Premium Contact Grand Touring tires but both the BMW configurator and order sheet shows performance tires. I am in California so prefer the summer performance

Searched Tirerack and found Pirelli P Zero run flat supposed to be the original performance tire. Could other 22" folks check what you have? Thanks!

Our 2019 X7 50i came with 22" Pirelli P Zero run flats. I just order a new set from my dealership. They matched Tire Rack and threw in an alignment.

That would be awesome deal. How much they charge for mounting and balance? Guess $200-300

Thanks for the info. I took delivery about the same time and have the Continental as well so likely they use Grand Touring for all 22"V wheel this year

My dealership includes mounting, balancing, and an alignment free with the purchase of 4 new tires. I didn't ask what they charge for balancing tires but would guess around $20-$25 a tire. They charge $175 for an alignment.

Having a snowy weekend in 22"summer touring tires?

Planned 3 day vacation in snowy area.

Checked Tirerack and there is not even all season option for 22" so need to get extra set of wheels to put all season/winter tires. Guess I have no budget and space for winter setup since expect less than one week usage in the next 3 years.

Anyone tried 22" wheel and tires in winter? Actually I mean California winter between 20-30F with light snow/mud. Understood that the traction will be severe impacted and thread wear faster than normal. Is it possible to have a 3 days weekend or for safety I should forget about that option and get an all season rental?

Comment appreciated

awesome tire/wheel choice! we have loved our 21" black wheel winter tire combo - they are quiet and comfortable...cannot wait to check out our 22" summers in a few months!

You mention one week usage in the next three years...are you sure. You don’t get plan to go back up in the mountains during the winter again....maybe Reno, Lake Tahoe, etc.

If so, get a rental. Not worth it to get winter or all season tires.

Or put you 22’s up for trade with someone who has 21s with all season tires. I’m sure someone will take that trade.

Even if they come out with All Season tires in the correct size 22's are going to be dicey unless you are an expert driver in snow. I have been driving in snow for years and we have a Q7 now with 21's and all season tires and it was just Ok in snow, a little slipping here and there. Going up to ski this week with big storms coming so this time I am renting a Grand Cherokee Trailhawk which come with 18 inch All Terrain Tires. I am going to order a X7 w/ 22's (Factory 21's look small) for my wife and with no All Season Option will have to leave it at home for ski trips.

Not a ski expert and go Tahoe for weekend every other year so that's all projected stay at snowy area

I would get a rental then. Just awkward to rent a SUV when I have one at home

I'm currently shopped for 22" summer tires to ride in spring and summer. Only a couple options available. I've checked around and if you want factory spec, you have Pirelli PZ4, Pirelli PZR run flats or the Continental SSR run flats. The SSR's have a better tread life rating which is what I'm after.

My Q7 with 21" all season worked ok in snow but I sold it a few weeks before

Weird to rent a suv (maybe GLS450 or Escalade) when I have one (per my sales the best in the world even though I don't agree) at home

Just picked up our new m50i and it came with P Zeros. That’s also what our last X5 had and they were fine before I replaced them with Pilot Sports.

Your stock 22 inch with 3 season tires from BMW are just that, 3 season. 5 minutes in cold or a trace of snow = death trap. Can't believe people ask this shit and drive BMWs, it's been this way for decades. Get a rental.
