I think someone at BMW got a hold of this photo and thought it was a good idea.......

BMW’s greatest design follies were not listening to their customers on new designs. The new 4 series and new electric SUV’s feedback are unanimously being massacred from the professional press to the video amateurs and current owners. The minority that does like it won’t change the way the river flows. Anything that test focused this bad and still put into production is asking for failure and a huge loss in company money. For example my local dealer has ALL of their M440’s still unsold. That is the kiss of death for a new model/design to not have any initial momentum to sell a brand new car. Porsche learned this with the 996.1 headlights.

Jeep Cherokee went the opposite direction, from split headlight design to single piece.

Is this the end of the "Angel Eyes" as we know it for decades? WTF is going on at BMW?

Interestingly, my 2 local BMW dealers also have both taken the G 4ers off their Facebook ads and have disabled comments. The dealerships are apparently well aware of the impact on sales this styling direction is having.

Good point and the initial split headlights on the Cherokee was so bad I remember my local Jeep dealer discounted it so low it still wasn’t enough to get rural postal employees to buy it for a work vehicle.

I went over a black on black M440 for over a hour to possibly replace my wife’s A4. That was the best possible color combo to hide the front end. My sales manager looked concerned after my candid opinion but knew it was coming.

The monkeys are running the BMW design team circus. As in "monkey see, monkey do".

Nothing original in this team, just copy and paste and make it bigger.

Well, this isn't the first look at the G07 LCI. I'm still rather "meh" about it. We're still 20 months away from the LCI release, planned for MY2023. So we'll see.

Agreed we will all have to wait and see. Hopefully BMW doesn't disappoint with the LCI refresh. Staying hopeful.

Genesis poached all the M-Division guys so I wouldn't be surprised if they took the headlight designs with them.

Agreed, both realistic and tastefully executed and likely very close to the real deal Save the DRLs which will most likely be the latest core model style, i.e. 5er LCI's L-shape, not iX style.

I have to admit, this is pretty hilarious. BMW is literally trying to copy every other manufacturer, including lowly brands. And they're doing a much worse job at the execution of copying! I love it when arrogant people meet their downfall. I'm going to grab some popcorn and watch this brand self-destruct.

That said, they'll probably still sell these ugly monstrosities to equally arrogant buyers who want to show off their comically designed vehicles to their Lululemon wearing friends.

I think BMW will inevitably adjust the design direction - if sales are impacted. It's the only driver of change.

X7 is selling very well pointing to the car being the right fit in the target segment. It's unlikely that X7 buyers are design conscious.
