Need more Driver Legroom (Customization)

One week into my lease. And I'm realizing I made a mistake with my purchase. Im 6'3 and the driver legroom is horrendous. I need about 3 to 4 more inches. My knee is hurting and my calf is cramping. Im in the NYC area. Anyone heard of custom seat rails installation. cant believe im going to have to live like this for the next 36 months.

They have this new thing called a test drive you can do beforehand now. Should have done that.

Since you'll have to uninstall everything at the end of the lease...

It might be cheaper to use the money as an incentive to transfer the lease to someone else.

Lol. I did do a test drive. Didn't think it would be an issue.

Awww, that sucks. I remember having buyers remorse after the first month of leasing my 2018 GLE43 AMG. The AMG was fine, but I just wasn't patient enough to wait on the new body styled 2019 BMW X5, because I was in immediate need of a vehicle and could've wait the two months the dealer said he would start to get X5's in stock. I drove to the BMW dealership a couple of months later and was upset with myself for not waiting.

I immediately listed the AMG on Swapalease, so you may want to start there. I ended up selling my vehicle while still on lease through Facebook Marketplace. I just sold it last month and since the X7 release, I needed to have one. So now I'm impatiently waiting for my build to be completed 😂. It's been stuck in "Production Begins Today" since 11/7/20....so I guess I need to call the Genius line and see what's the issue.

Anyway, try Swapalease or Facebook Marketplace. You may want to see if your dealer can work with you on getting out of the lease. Since it's so new and just purchased, there may be a buyers remorse clause in the lease saying you can return with minimal penalty after 30 days or something. Good luck in exiting the lease OR coming up with an alternative to make it work for the next 36 months.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!

What?? I'm 6'6 with a 36" inseam, 36" waist and 36" arms. I put the seat FORWARD! I'm confused.

Edit... and when I take my shoes off I can stretch my legs straight out under the pedals.

I'm 6'2 and have a hard time understanding what possible seat position you could be using that you are THAT uncomfortable. The seat is able to go back way further than my setting so I can't imagine you not being able to simply put the seat further back.

Are you sure you're not mistaking this for the z4 forum?

My buddy who is 6'8" actually complements how much room he has and the ability for second row passengers to still be OK sitting behind him.

even the passenger side has a foot well that comes up. and I know no 6 footers can stretch their legs out. 2nd row is great and my legs can also stretch under the pedals in the first row. but the pedals themselves is the issue

Are you sure there’s not something wrong with your seat? Are you sure it’s adjusted correctly? Does it feel different to the one you test drove?

I’m 6’1”, so a little shorter than you, but there’s definitely more than an inch or two of seat travel / adjustability available to me if I needed more room.

It doesn’t sound like your seat is working in the same way as a lot of other people’s. I’d go and check out whether another X7 feels different before you modify anything or get right d of the car.

very interesting, both the driver and passenger are push to the same postion. both looks even. Im going to play around with the 3rd row Maybe that did something with the front seats.... under pedals have alot of room. but the pedal placement to front of seat is the issue. right leg just does not rest comfortably.

Try to lift the seat up, I know it's counter intuitive, but it will adjust your seating position to kind of "chair like". This change requires some other adjustments, steering wheel, seat tilt, mirrors, etc. Also, do not extend thigh support all the way, that can actually put more strain on your knees. I wish BMW had included bolster adjustment, the current setup is a bit narrow and aggressive.
As already suggested by others, you have to play around with the seat position quite a bit to see what suits you. I'm 6'01" and it took me a while with many adjustment changes to find a position that I like. To be honest, it's the first vehicle where it took this long to find a comfortable position.

I will definitely try that. im coming from a 3 grand cherokees from 2012 to 2017. driver and passenger front seats had tons of room. was really spoiled by that. but I will definitely play around with the seats. I was always use to pushing seats way back and tilting down for as much legroom as possible. #1 reason why i fell for the escalade, I had tons of room. but fit & finish i was no match

For the record, I’m 6’3”, 36” inseam.... have plenty of room. I’m pretty sure I don’t even have the seat all the way back.

Post pics...will help us better evaluate.

I do know I was l was playing around with the buttons on the door to move the second row. When I pushed them the front seats moved forward. It could be stuck in that position for you for some reason.

Put the back of the seat bottom all the way down, and raise the front of the seat bottom, that would give you some more leg room and also slightly flex your hips and extend your knees, which is a better position to spend a long period of time in.

I have this odd feeling you might have the captains chairs. fold them both forward, then both back, letting them run themselves out, then try moving your seats back.

at full back you should be able to see a good amount of the seat rail sticking out front

this is how my legs fit in the x7. very uncomfortable driving on the highway. stop and go city streets i can relax my legs with auto hold by slipping my feet under the pedals. I checked the track and seat is all the way back.
