Thule Roof Rack Wingbar Edge 9593 + Flush Railing 4023
Hello all,
Just would like to share information. I was looking for a roof rack for x7 last few months though. For me, BMW original looks quite high and the current version of Thule is wider than the roof width. I tried it out with my old Thule base bar, it has been used on x5 F15. It fits perfectly on x7. This model has been discontinued. That's why Thule website doesn't show this model in the list for x7. WingBar Edge L 9593 Flush Railing 4023 I think it is still available in some retails. If somebody looks for a bit lower than the original, it may be a good option. Did you measure. Looks to be just as high as the OEM.
I test fitted the Thule Aeroblades and they look great, clearance would be an issue for some mounted accessories like cargo box. If you never open the sunroof with the cargo box then no issues. |

I've been shopping around for a roof rack but will probably settle on the factory BMW rack. It does sit quite high off the roof, but at this point in my life I just want something fully compatible and let the dealer deal with any issues. I need it for two large kayaks. I'm more concerned with the crossbars fitting the kayak holders than anything else.
I couldn't open the moon roof with aftermarket roof racks on my AMG43 but they looked sleek and fit the vehicle. I imagine with the factory BMW rack that shouldn't be an issue with how high it sits. |

I am so happy that I can reuse the one that I've boxed up. Price-wise, the discontinued Thule one has some benefit though I think it would be a similar price tag in the States. |

Thule or Yakima?
Glad I came across this, as I just started looking at something to prep for a 3rd roadtrip in a year w/ my X7, which eclipses by 3 the number of road trips I've taken in the prior 10 yrs.
I like the low profile versions of both these options vs the higher ones (including OEM). Good to know about the Yakima. Thule's Aeroblade also looks sharp. But two questions for anyone who can answer: 1. To me it looks like adding attachments to the Thule rail system is easier/cleaner - any thoughts? 2. Most importantly, as I'm leasing and might move back to a X5 - would either brand be able to move down and fit a X5? Thanks! |
