Service Department Ruined My Seats

BMW had my car for about 4 weeks, do to a part backorder. Finally went to pick it up today. They had left it for me to do, which was fine.
Went to open the driver-side door and saw this..

Couldn't believe they would leave it like this. My guys said he didn't see the car before they put it out there and he was going to take care of it on Monday, but I 'm worried. The other seat isn't as bad but its stained too.

Not trying to complain just would love some advice. I would assume they would need to be replaced?

Got to send that pick to BMW directly. So the service department doesn’t use seat protectors especially on white Merino seats?? That looks like it was done on purpose to be malice.
Talk to the dealership manager and tell them they need to order you brand new seats as well. Nothing less. I won’t refurb new seats for sloppy incompetence. Would you invite houseguest over to crap on your floors but say it’s OK because they were going to clean it up afterwards??

What does your passenger seat look like, is it pristine?

No, its not. The passenger seat looks better but still dirty.

Fairly certain that is just stained not ruined. A proper detail at their cost at an independent detailing shop would resolve that issue. Not justifying or defending. It is simply not acceptable but give the dealership an opportunity to resolve the issue.

It might but I would demand a replacement for the blatant lack of respect and aggravation to my new BMW. I would bring BMW and the manager in on this to show my level of concern. This was totally avoidable and not even an accident like a possible paint scratch. I owned ivory Merino on my last G05 and only a idiot would sit in it and create that kind of stains and not know it.

So they also soiled the passenger seat or was it from you?

Replacement of what? Seat cover or car?
Perhaps I am old school but I would first start with the dealership and give them an opportunity to resolve the issue before escalating to corporate.

Seats. I have a lot of detailing experience and getting the shadow grunge from the perforations in the leather is almost next to impossible. Ivory is unforgiving in these areas. Certainly start with the dealership management so they know this kind of stuff is going on. Odds are they don’t know what their service dept is doing. Policies get put in place when dealerships start forking over their own money to replace parts parts they damaged. My dealership immediately puts floor, seat and steering wheel covers on as soon as the vehicle exchanges hands to them. They have done this for years. I am so sorry for the Op to even have to be put on this position. So stupid and careless. What does the ivory seatbelts look like??

If they do a hack job reinstalling seat covers it is going to look pretty bad if not installed properly. I would first have the detail completed, if that doesn't work then go the seat cover and if that doesn't work discuss options but simply demand new seat off the top and contact corporate isn't the best way to go about it but different strokes for different folks.

You are right. My worries would be possible damage of the heated seating or massage element in the seats.

That is unbelievable! If they can't correct the situation with detailing (it better look perfect), they should replace the seat.

Holy crap. The techs ass had to be soaked in grease and oil to accomplish that. It doesn't look like normal transfer.

Especially during covid, a good dealership service always wraps the touch areas. I had service done a few weeks back and they wrapped the seat and steering wheel with plastic immediately and put a floor covering on too. I was still complaining that they should have done something to cover the gear shift and panel for start button. I had to wipe it down along with door handle when I got the car back cause it was dirty.

If I saw this, I wouldn't accept the car back.

I appreciate all of the feedback. I'm just sick over it. I keep the car pretty clean. Except for maybe the back of the passenger side seat where my daughter kicks it. That's a lot easier to clean every week or so because its plastic, so I don't worry about it as much.

Someone was very careless. I took many photos and even the console has dirt on it. They had the car for a long time, who knows what they did inside. They do still have it. I left it there when I went to pick it up. It also smells of oil and chemicals.

I am going to go in tomorrow and talk to the service guy I normally talk to. I agree with MystroX5 , I just don't see them being able to detail the seats out without damaging the leather.

I also paid 600$ for the BMW leather protectant. So that will have a warranty.

Corporate needs to know about this immediately. The process of reconciling this should be monitored by corporate, and perhaps the approach determined by corporate. This should have an influence in the policy for something like this, which was likely violated. This dealership should be held accountable.

This was my thought as well as this goes beyond the accidental minor paint scratch or minor smudge from carless hands. This looks deliberate to me. I have seen theft recovery vehicles returned better than this.

My dealership has a standing order to not even wash any of my vehicles either when delivered new or routine service is done.

WOW, not good at all. I definitely would demand they detail those seats/the whole car and if not, replace the seat covers! I clean/condition our ivory seats/interior every week if not every other to maintain the look and still the perforated sections looks (from certain angles) as if some dirt/grime remains. That's pure negligence on BMW service dept.

Dealer had mine for 83 days. Said normal wear and tear. They ripped the seat and oil and grease. My car is impeccable. I am a neat freak. They replaced the seat covers as a “favor”.

May I ask, 83 days? I haven’t had mine in almost two months and I am going through withdrawals... I have an Ametrin M50i

Holy hell. That's a disgusting picture. Every dealer I know of immediately puts in seat protectors when receiving a vehicle. Even small oil and lube shops do that, much less BMW dealerships.

Is that a freaking footprint in the middle of the seat?

Yes. Probably more. Lost count. So many issues from day one. Had to unfortunately proceed to the legal route.
