Year-to-date, BMW sales in the U.S. are up 4.5 percent. November highlights include the seventh generation BMW 3 Series sedan (6,283 units), as well as the BMW X3 (5,948 units) and X5 (5,359 units) Sports Activity Vehicles. Looks like 4 Series GC sales (which make up the vast majority of 4 Series sales) are really starting to slide as more and more BMW car buyers favor the new G20 3 Series Sedan with the latest design language and technology over the elegant lines of the aging F36 4 Series Gran Coupe.

Apparently BMW and Merc are neck in neck in total sales for 2019, if Merc doesn't sell ~2500 cars more than BMW in December, BMW will be able to take back the place of the #1 Luxury Automaker for the first time in years. Although anything can happen, especially since Merc beat BMW for November sales by >2000. It also seems Lexus is taking 3rd place.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...uxury-car-race Yet, Audi has never finished in front of Lexus in the US as far as I know. Certainly not last year: https://motorillustrated.com/mercede...in-2018/16933/ Quote:
That said, BMW sold about 500 fewer passenger cars this November than they did last November, but over 3000 more light trucks. So the trend away from cars is very much alive. |

G20 is a very good car. I drove a loaner (albeit a 4 cylinder 330i) for 2 weeks. Yet it is no longer a convincing segment leader. Flat sales numbers suggest the same. |

YTD results are the story. 4.5% growth for BMW brand is strong in a flat North American market.
Sub story is the pronounced shift to SAVs, 3 series November result notwithstanding. |

Impressed by 7 series. Especially considering many here think big grills won't sell. It looks like 7 series sales have increased both YTD and monthly.
