Passing NJ inspection with DP's and JB4?
Yes I know I can search, but I need an up to date 2015 answer with fixes available to buy now,
Took my 09 335i to inspection today and it failed because of the OBDII readiness Here are my mods, Downpipes, DCI, FMIC, JB4 ISO, Backend Flash Now I was reading to just set the JB4 to Map 0 for a week? I'm using autoclear for the CAT's Do I need a DP fix or will the JB4 suffice? Or do you "really" need to switch back to the stock cats to pass inspection?

Could I assume something like this would work?

The first one x-kitty will work. You'll need that to pass the test. Also need to drive miles after wards. To set the redinies state

Ok thanks,
Just to confirm, Buy the X-Kitty and install it, Turn the JB4 to Map 0 drive around for 100 miles then go back to inspection?

Yes that is correct. But the x-kitty just like all have a resistor on back. That you have to adjust so drive around ensure you don't pop any codes then either use your own obd2 scanner or autozone and check the ready lights.

If you pop codes then look them up its same as the BMS downpipe delete

The N54 tuning one has that on/off switch so would I be right in thinking the X-Kitty one would have to be removed after passing inspection or can you leave it in all the time?
I obviously don't want to mess up the JB4 tune |

Don't forget it takes some driving to meet readiness, after installing the DPFix.
And yes, remove the DPFix after inspection unless you buy the one with the On/Off switch. |

They only use the sniffer for for OBD-I which is 1995 and earlier... or if you are a commercial vehicle..... or certain diesel vehicles.

Need DP fix.
Autoclear clears faults....which means it resets all the ODBII readiness monitors. And as mentioned, you will need to drive the car some for the monitors to set. If you took this to a state facility (MVC), you might be screwed. They might have noted you failed for cats and may do a visual inspection next time around. |

Yeah ok so how are they seeing the not-ready codes? They are plugging into obd ports?

They drove my car over a camera and that was fine they seen the other 2 cats in the resonator section so that was cool,
The guy just asked me if I had reset the computer recently or put a new battery in, I said yeah I took it to autozone because the ABS light came on and I don't think they guy there knew what he was doing blah blah blah, He said the guy must have reset all the readiness monitors and for me to drive around for 100 miles and come back

BT = probably
INPA = Yes do a search for the e9x readiness drive cycle so you can reach readiness in like less than 10 miles and probably like in 15 mins. It's actually pretty simple of a drive cycle compared to other car manufacturers |

I ran into the same issue last year after installing my DPs. I should have either waited a couple months to install and inspect it first, but water pump failed which changed my timing.
Installed x-kitty and had to tweak that damn resistor for like 6 drive cycles before the light would stay off. Instructions said :15 minute clockwise turns and retest. So, just make sure you run the full drive cycle before heading over. Passed no problem once it was tuned correctly. Also, it helps having an OBDII scanner plugged in to check the readiness status of the various sensors. That was a lifesaver for me. |
