Compartment in Upper Tailgate
Have had my X7 for a few months & noticed today a small compartment inside the upper tailgate. Mine is Empty. Looks like it should hold a warning triangle (?).
Anyone have anything in there? |

Others can chime in with whether they have something there or not. I'll just say that BMW puts in safety equipment (triangle, first aid kit, tool kit, etc) sometimes based on requirements for that particular market. So it's not unusual to have an empty unfilled cutout for something, if it's an item required in a different market from yours.

I have a warning triangle in that little slot, and a first aid kit in the rear right wheel well opening when you remove the cover.

You can actually buy one for pretty cheap - I bought one for my F80 M3 and mounted it in the OEM location in the trunk. And here is another tip, the VW/Audi one is about half the cost as the BMW one - and they are the same warning triangle (I bought the VW/Audi one).
https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Sit...ning_triangle/ May still need to verify if any additional mounting parts are required (the velcro straps maybe?). I know for the F80 (and F30 sedan), additional mounting parts were needed to complete this mod in US cars.
