Extended Ultimare care + & Extended Warranty Costs
What are you seeing as far as costs for the 2 separate programs, extended ultimate care + and the extended warranty after the 4 yr 50,000 mile? My X7 is completed and waiting on carrier assignment and I was wondering what these might cost. I am also interested in other opinions on the value of buying these at signing or even buying them at all? I have owned several BMW's and they were very reliable.

Do you know what the cost from Ultimate to Ultimate+ is for the maintenance on the standard vehicle to start? U+ on my X5 2 years ago was $600.

warranty
Is the price of the 6yr 100,000 mile extended warranty negotiable? I just ordered and bought a X7 M50 and it has so many moving parts that it worrys me over the long run.

Yes you can negotiate. Those were retail prices. I would be curious to see what other people are receiving as far as discounts

I received a quote from my dealer for the platinum 7yr 100,000 mile extended warranty and it is $6850. Is this way out of line? I am buying, is anyone else buying that plans on holding on to their car for more than 7 years? If so do you think it is worth the money for this extended warranty?

Is your quote for the BMW extended warranty or their 3rd party warranty? |

BMW is usually required to do the work and then you either get reimbursed or the dealer bills the insurer directly, but I believe it can vary depending on the dealership's insurance relationship. It's not necessarily the same carrier in every region or every dealership (this also leads to wide variations in warranty costs based on region or even dealerships). In my opinion, (and for the record, I am in the reinsurance business) these contracts tend to be - at best - prepaying expected costs or - at worst - a scam because the insurer has a lot of outs (eg, the insured needs to prove that the required maintenance is adhered to exactly or that anything done to the car was performed by BMW and/or reimbursements can take considerable time). And from someone in the industry, everyone loves this business because there are great margins for insurance carriers. |

If you want to keep your vehicle for a long time, I do like vehicle extended warranty from manufacturer, (not 3rd party), but I think I can negotiate that later. For my Mercedes as long as the original warranty was not expired, I could buy extended warranty from manufacturer which I did later. I negotiated that from another dealership and got a good price. |

When you are all talking about 5/75 or 6/100...does that mean 5 or 7 years AFTER the factory warranty expires? or does that mean just 1 or 2 more years after the factor warranty expires?

1 or 2 years after factory warranty or factory included maintenance. There are two different plans. The maintenance plan is good for 3/36 while the warranty is 4/50.
