Re-collision safety of 3rd row
Has anyone looked into the safety of the 3rd row seats when there is a rear impact/collision? I was considering the captain seating, but that will put me in a situation where I have one of my kids in the 3rd row at least 50% of the time. So much of the inventory out there that hits my must-haves also has captain seating.

Here's a thread where the OP's car was rear ended. Maybe it will help you decide. My wife hauls our grandkids around and we feel as confident in our X7 as anything short of the behemoths like the Expedition Max or Suburban and its GM stablemates. Hope this helps.

https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/...eats/index.htm Essentially the argument/observation is that while third-row passengers are closer to rear-end impacts, they are further from frontal collisions and frontal collisions are statistically more dangerous for passengers. Hence, third-row seats tend to be as safe, if not safer, as the second row. |
