Get this X7 on the road ASAP and true halo supercar please
I work for BMW and the reasoning for no full size "X7" or M7 was supposedly BMW couldn't get vehicles those size to the performance targets expected by the brand due to their weight.

Now that BMW has heavily invested into SGL Carbon and learned from the production of the i3 and i8 fully formed carbon fiber models BMW feels that they can now get full-size products to the performance standards expected by the brand.

MB S63AMG and S65AMG are cash cows. But their driving diving dynamics are very poor. However they still outsell the 7 series 3 to 1 because we have no dedicated full M-model.

Intensive carbon fiber is the key so expect to see a full M7 to battle it out and take the sales and performance crown from the dowdy and arguably old-school S-Class.

Also, the covered pic is just an X5 right? It certainly doesn't look like a car that is distinct from the X5, especially given where the rear door handle clearly is.

It's the first gen X1. Not a cloaked X7 prototype.

About freaking time BMW!

And you are still too late as my wife's 2015 GL 550' lease is up in a year and you still won't have this available!

So I may be ready for this in another 4 years.

You took your sweet time and I'm going to take mine!

You're right. If you follow statistics the market is growing in 4 segments:

-compact SUV's and crossovers.
-performance compact SUV's (upcoming X3M, MB GLC AMG)
-sub-compact SUV's and crossovers (upcoming X2)
-full-size super premium. (Bentley Bentayga, Maserati Levante, Rolls-Royce and Lamborghini Urus in development).

Gas prices are down at the moment and the market is shifting towards crossovers and SUV's.

I wonder if this will just be a re-skin of the Bentley SUV.

How are you liking the Denali? Probably going to buy one in the next 3-5 months. I wish this X7 was already available.
The Denali is a great truck. We are enjoying it very much. My wife likes this more than the styling of the Escalade and it's essentially the same vehicle. We had the previous generation Escalade before this and the new Yukon Denali is light years ahead of the previous platform. This vehicle is very quiet and capable for its size. We have a Thule carrier on top for extra space although it's very large inside. Only thing that's lacking is a good navigation system. It's poorly designed and poorly reviewed too. The Cadillac Cue system is also a miss from what I read. GM engineers need to go back to the drawing board on these systems. We have had the Denali for 40k miles now and it's almost 2 years old with no complaints. I would definitely buy it again. We have it totally loaded with the 22's and it gets a lot of compliments even nearly 2 years later. I will test drive an X7 though in 2 years to see what it's all about as we will probably be ready for a replacement at that time. Hopefully BMW brings a strong offering to this market. There is a market for these vehicles for people with large families and honestly you don't have many choices in something this large. Side note is our Yukon gets 17.3 MPG which is phenomenal for a vehicle this size I think.

Oh of course. No doubt about it.

But the realization that BMW needed this X7 to compete with the Benz GL should have came way earlier than a few years ago. The GL came out in 2006. It's 2016 already and the X7 won't be available until 2018 so if my math is correct, that is 12 years of BMW not having a true GL (now called the GLS) competitor.

Yeah 2 seat supercar should be a priority with world over population... 7 seats just makes me think my family is too small
