I wouldn't mind them a little smaller, but I agree...this SUV is meant to make a statement. The whole design has grown on me quite a bit...it's so in-your-face, yet so stately too. Love this SUV!

I feel you, a little smaller wouldn't hurt but yeah exactly! It needs to be bold and stand out!

I need to see it in person and test drive to render any reasonable perspective. On the first glance, the visuals are difficult to appreciate.

Not sure about the sales. 3rd row utility is pretty lousy.

It is very exclusive, however. Especially if you have a smallish peepee.

I actually really like it, especially in the white, it looks so edgy

I agree with Neptune7. Do not judge this car by the pictures. Most of the pictures I've seen (including the official BMW press pics) don't do this car any justice.

The huge grilles that everyone seems to be complaining about look perfect on this car when seen IRL. In fact the whole front end is perfectly executed & cohesive when seen IRL...most of the pictures I've seen simply don't convey this but instead seem to make the grilles look too large/awkward/out of proportion. Also the rear end when seen IRL looks sporty in a way that is difficult to convey in pictures.

I have a feeling that this grille is going to be the automotive styling equivalent of fake boobs. Some think they're disproportional, tacky, fake, or attention whoring....others love em

I stand by my conclusion that BMW's design language just does not work on larger vehicles.

I agree. At the risk of getting ejected from this forum, I would suggest that BMW strongly reconsider the twin kidney grille feature requirement on all cars. It's such a constraining design element, and in this case it looks like the designers didn't know what to do with it...since it can't be small or else it will look funny on that massive face, they had to make it huge. And then there are three other grilles.

BMW have traditionally bastardized the twin kidney grille idea already (see conjoined M2C grille)...maybe it's time to just let that whole thing go.

I love it as well. I think it a beautiful design. My favorite is the Mineral White M Sport with the Black outer kidneys and chrome grill/fins. If mine doesn't come that way, it'll be one of the first things I do along with tinting front windows to match the back and blacking out the chrome on rear hatch. Might black out the rear view mirror covers and tint reverse light lenses. Cant wait to get the damn thing!

In my book only the E38 and E65 LCI were the only truly desirable 7-series models. They looked heads and shoulder above the competition. At the time these full sized cars could be low and sleek. I feel now due to crash safety standards the F01 and G11 have looked very chunky and not sleek at all, especially up front. Don't even get me started on their awkward asses.

Yea I don't get all the hate on the giant kidney grills as well I personally think it looks bold and stylish but to each his own. A good percentage of ppl on here just like to hate on whatever new BMW comes out with.

Yeah, the E38 was amazing. And i also agree on BMWs rear end design. It's a mess, almost across the entire lineup.
