CarPlay interaction with x7

I'm confused on how CarPlay connects to the car.

If I'm on a phone call and I reach my destination I'd like to exit the vehicle. So I switch the call to my phone but CarPlay still shows the call active. Even if I shut the car off and turn off blue tooth on my phone the call is still on the display screen.

How do you disconnect CarPlay from the car so I'm not draining the battery and can exit and leave the car without losing the call?

First, CarPlay connects to current BMWs via wifi, not bluetooth. Second, the switch from CarPlay to phone should happen automatically when you turn off your car and walk away from your car. However, that automatic transition does not always happen smoothly (at least it never does consistently for me) so you can force the transition by changing the audio setting on your phone (during your call and before you leave your car) from CarPlay to phone.

jmciver is correct, if you are in a call, simply shut off your X7 and exit the vehicle. The call will automatically switch to your iPhone. Do NOT switch the call manually.

Thanks. I tried this and it worked. Kind of uneasy walking away from the car with it appearing that the call is still in the vehicle and might disconnect.

By the way. If you shut off WiFi, the call won't transfer either. Seems that there is no way to disconnect car play if you're in the vehicle.
