Looks like a play on "ametrine," a type of quartz that combines amethyst (hence the purple) with citrine.

That stinks. I guess you should have it by mid March but 6 months later it'll already be a year old (and drop $25k+ in value.

I was told it will go into production second week of January and from there it will be three weeks. I'm looking at first week of February. I hope.

Anyone know how long it takes from here?

Not sure, but mine's been on that particular dot for 18 days now. Not too bothered by it, since it's not supposed to be finished until Jan 11... but I expect assembly to begin soon. I have heard (I don't remember where) that the dot tracker thingy isn't necessarily kept especially up to date, though. If yours is now scheduled for production, though, you can probably call the Genius hotline to get your expected completion date.

I ordered 12/06 and guess what? My dot moved for the first time today as well! I checked right after midnight and there it was!

Hopefully, our two vehicles don't bump into each other during production!

OK, I just called Genius for an update. Start of production is still planned for Sunday, estimated completion between 20th and 24th.

I'd say the timing is perfect for my planned pick-up date of 2/15.

I got the 'simple' metallic white. In the past couple of weeks/months, there were some posts on this forum about delays if you ordered full leather (leather dash) or the M50i engine but I guess that's been taken care of now.

My wife's X7 M50i is officially in production starting today (third dot). Estimated time of completion is 1/16. It has the carbon black exterior color with ivory white/night blue full merino leather interior with individual ash grain grey wood, every option is ticked except the rear seat entertainment.

I called the BMW Genius 1-2-19 and he said its in transit to the vehicle processing center with an ETA of Jan 4. Today there are no further updates to BMW website.

I assume its there and the status is just lagging. Hoping to get another status soon?

Also, I am pretty sure that my dealer in central California is not using united. I got log-in credentials set up but the last vehicle shipped using this carrier was back in June of last year. No cars recently have used united. There must be another carrier. I'd love to know how to track it more once it leaves Oxnard.

I get the very strong impression the "Track My BMW" thing is largely decorative. My order was entered on Dec 12 — and on Dec 16 the VIN was created and the dot moved to "Production Begins."

Today, I called the Genius number and the automated production status thingy said that the vehicle would be finished tomorrow (Jan 8). But the dot is still in the same place it's been since Dec 16.

It's like that Domino's Pizza Tracker, where it says your pizza's still in the oven when the delivery drivers shows up at your door.
