I haven’t even got a VIN yet. But it’s only been 3 weeks since ordered.

I do have a production number. 3529573

Oh the United tracking is only after it gets dispatched from factory.

While I'm not compulsively checking the status of my order (honest), I did happen to look this evening and saw that it had moved one bubble over into "Production Begins" (from "Scheduled for Production") and there's now a VIN created for it. While that's cool, it seems weird there's been ANY movement at all, considering my date for Performance Center delivery isn't until the end of January.

I'm having this paranoid vision that I'll get to Spartanburg and they'll say, "Oh, sorry, we accidentally shipped it to your dealer three weeks ago." That would be par for the course.

In the meantime, I made a timeline graphic to share some milestones, which I'll keep updated (in case anyone's remotely curious).

OMG I'm so jealous right now. I am checking mine every day. SOmetimes even 2-3 times a day. My order went in 11/23 and the dot has not moved one space.

What gives? Did I pick the wrong color? To many options? What???

I guess your car will go into assembly line in 7 days, 2 days to build and ready to ship

I just got my special order. 3 weeks total.. key point: the dealer changed a "pre150" order slot and it went to 150,the next day..
This dealer was smart .. as soon as I made contact with a configuration, they changed the 'next available Changable' slot, even before aprice negotiations and set of final deal. The key is finding a dealer with a slot about to go,150..

I was ready to make the move on a special order, however my dealer just told me that my allocation would be in February with a March build with possible April delivery. I told him I would just rather wait until August (only 4 months) and order a 2021, as the depreciation for those few months would be a killer on a $102k vehicle. I got a good deal with them but just not fun when you have to wait that long.

I want to get a fully loaded X7 and I can't find a single one in the entire country that is actually fully loaded.

Ours at delivery, had to go back to the dealer for an oil leak from a loose oil filter, left some nice oil spots on the driveway.

Otherwise it has exceeded our expectations, have already done a small road trip with the family and didn’t feel it at all.

It’s been replaced by a gt3

But the old car was 991.1 C2s, with the sport design package and ducktail spoiler. Put 52k miles on her, was a lovely car.

My dream garage! Couldn't get an allocation for GT3 at MSRP. Trying for 992!

I'm curious to know. My allocation was 11/27 and I'm still waiting for that dot to move.

"The VIN you entered was not found.
Please double check your VIN and try again or contact us for assistance."

Any thoughts? Mine is in Dispatched from factory status online and when I called Genius they say its on its way.

I placed my order two weeks ago (12/06).

My dot is also in the first spot. It could be that my build is going to take a bit longer due to some options I picked (full leather etc.).

However, as long as production starts in mid January, I'm not concerned. After all, I don't have any use for this vehicle prior to the expiration of my current lease (02/15).

Anyone waiting in Illinois?

I heard back from my dealer today. I don't mind waiting until they build my X7. Plus I'm all done and paid for yet still driving my trade in so I'm putting miles on their car now lol. But the dear kind state of Illinois has canceled the tax reduction starting January first.

For those who live in better states I'll explain. Using round numbers; if you buy a 50,000 car and your trade in is worth 30,000 you only pay tax on the 20,000 difference, not the entire 50,000. Starting January first, you will only be allowed the first 10,000. So using this scenario, you'd pay the tax on 40,000. Welcome to Illinois.

I'm buying a 100,000 vehicle and getting close to 50,000 for my trade. I'll pay 9% tax on 50,000 before 12-31 and 9% tax on 90,000 after 1-1

I know I won't get the X before the end of the year but as long as they assign a VIN I can complete the paperwork and save around $3500 bucks.

Anyway... the dealer told me to check my little dot after the 26th and it should move and have a VIN then!

Got another call from the dealer today. They say that BMW will not start production of my X7 until the second week of the new year because of the color.

I decided to let my son pick the color and he liked the red one. So red it is.

But that means that I will not even have a VIN until the second week of January and that I will have to pay an additional $2600 in tax thanks to Illinois changing the tax deduction after Jan 1.

The dealer told me not to worry about it when we closed the deal because they were sure that they would have a VIN before the end of the year. Looks like with the color choice, they were wrong and I will have to pony up another $2600 after the fact.

I'd like to complain but they really are a good dealer and I don't think they thought this would happen.

Oh well... live and let live I guess.

Ametrin Metallic? It's not really red.

It seems that order tracking on the website is a bit behind.

Since I placed my order 3 weeks ago, I called the Genius hotline and the automatic system repeated what I could see on the website (order received, no production scheduled yet). Since I wanted to make sure, I spoke to a live person and to my surprise, there actually IS a scheduled production date of January 5th!

Online order tracking has always been behind. Though the tracking of my BMWs from
Germany have been spot on.

The Genius are pretty helpful and can provide fairly detailed build status info if available. Also some of the Geniuses that answer the hotline also assist new owners with PCD delivery.
