I think there was no M-Sport option for the 50i since the launch of MY2020/M50i

I believe it was only removed in the last two weeks because I've been building M50i's to compared to 50i's with M Sport packages.

Interesting that the config was still up.
It was announced that with the 2020 model year the line would split into 3:
40i, base & Msport trim
50i, base trim
M50i, Msport trim

I don't think anybody has been able to order the 50i as a MY2020 with Msport trim

M50i is a great deal, for the price of the M package on the 50i, you get the updated engine.

If it was still on the configurator, it was a glitch.

As you can see on page 5 of the attached order guide, it wasn't even offered for the start of production (SOP) in August for the launch of MY20.

Makes sense, the web developers likely didn't update the configurator when they should have.

There was an M package for the 2019 50i for an extra 5k or so.

Sure - but there was no M50i for MY19. The M50i for MY20 is the new 'V8 with M Package'.

Yep!

the 50i is still available, with the lower HP rating.

Basically the M50i price premium is essentially the same as the M Sport package that was on the 50i.
