Pulled over on Autobahn
LOL I was pulled over on the Autobahn today for going 142 in a 100 zone.
Ok well just got back from the Factory Tour, very intersting how the cars are built. Perfect just-in-time system and each individual car goes across the line and not a batch system. LOL I thought I was the first one to be pulled over by the German police, but apparently Jspira beat me to it. I was on the A-8 from Salzburg back to Germany. I am thinking it was the exact same downhill spot. It was un-marked silver A6. Said that I was going about 142 in a 100 zone. Honestly I have to agree that the assessment. Basically gave me a 5km free, and said "You must pay 120 EUR right now." I told him didn't have that much Euros and he asks "how many Euros do you have?" I told him only have 80 EURs and $20 US and he took it. Gave me the receipt stating the case. I showed it to the hotel clerk here in Munich and she read it and said that "it looked legit." Anyone else with experience of being pulled over on the A-bahn and how it was handled?

right - how dare they enforce their traffic laws - don't they know they are still occupied by American troops
PS Sorry to read about your ticket. American sherrifs have the same policy of cash payment when they ticket hapless unsuspecting Canadians trying to make the perillous journey to the Sunshine State (especially now that the hurricanes have deforested it) |

So, are the painted bodys that go into the stacker (storage) not customer sold cars? Also, did you notice any shortage of the Alum. trim? Too funny about getting pulled over in a 100 MPH zone. Back in the day, South Carolina troopers would collect the fine on the side of the Hwy. |

Same things happen when you drive at Canada with us a driver's license. They either take money on the spot or you have to go to precint and pay it there. This is what I heard from a friend that got a ticket this year goign to Toronto from Buffalo...

wish the cops here was like that...... they only took what you have because they know if they let you go, you go back to the US and never see that ticket getting paid..... |

Yeah, the Polizei fines you right on the spot for speeding. Completely legit as long as they give you a reciept. And, for clarification sake, the speed limit was 100kph, not mph.... You can go as fast as you want on the autobahn, except for the areas where the road comes close to a city or town. There the speed drops to 100kph. If you are speeding really excessively (construction zones) they can take your license away on the spot and impound your vehicle. Also, if you cause an accident while speeding legitimately, you insurance company will not pay for the damages done to anyone. Just something to think about before you take the ED...

I think it is hilarious that he took less than what the fine was for, I am taking a mental note to remember that speeding fines are negotiable in Europe LOL

Why didn't you investigate the situation involving SCA's auto? I mean jezz, you were IN THE FACTORY! Be honest, his car was around back covered in bird poop. C'mon you can tell us! We are all family here, right? Enjoy your car....and slow down! |

Actually I was going to ask the guy, but he was like one of our typical US SA's. Didn't really know much about the cars as those of us on here. I asked him about the VIN and how you can tell what factory the car was manufactured and he didn't know the "k" stood for the Munich factory.
