168 mph is more than enough. the tire speed rating is for SUSTAINED speed, i highly doubt with a speed limiter at 155, that it would be possible to exceed 168mph for a sustained period. possibly for a brief period of time on a downhill, but unlikely, air resistance is brutal at that speed.

Just ordered a new X7 M60i. I ordered the 22in rims on the car, and am deciding between purchasing a new set of tires and having the dealer put them on (Continental EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 PLUS) or just buying a winter tire/wheel package from BMW and having 2 sets of tires/wheels and swapping them out seasonally.
If I buy from BMW, which is the better option, the 21s with 285s square, or the 22in staggered setup? https://www.shopbmwusa.com/ACCESSORI...IRE-ASSEMBLIES Thoughts? |

We just had another nail on my wife's 2023 X7, the 2nd tire needing replacement this year. At 14000 miles now so replacing soon anyway and with the tire warranty paying for that one rear tire I bought the other 3 and put on the DWS 06 Plus. Wow what a difference !! Those Crappy Run Flats make the ride harsh for nothing. I could feel the difference instantly. We ordered the spare tire so not worried about flats.

Question. Has anyone run a square 22” setup? One of the reasons we went 21” for now is the ability to rotate the tires.
I could buy 4 individual 22 fronts and run those square, eliminating one of the drawbacks of the 22s. |

I currently have 22" square set up my '24 m60i. I purchased 2 additional front wheels 755m 22x9.5" directly from dealership and brought them 285/40ZR-22 MICHELIN PILOT SPORT ALL SEASON 4 XL. The dealership mounted and installed them before I took delivery of the car. They had no problem doing that for me and didn't mention anything about warranty and such. My question is, does anyone know recommended tire pressure for this setup? Even Michelin's chat helpline couldn't answer the question.

I've been running 22 square with 285/40/22 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 for a month now. I did this because 1: no complicated tire rotation issues (unmounting and remounting) 2: no winter tire swaps 3: better discounts purchasing 4 tires instead of 2. So far it's been great, quiet and comfortable but then again, I wouldn't know any better because I had this set up since I took delivery. Now the hassle of selling 2 rear wheels and staggered summer tires in Colorado :/

Unbelievable. I wonder why these tires are not offered by BMW? Also Tirerack has these tires yet when you type in BMW X7 as the type vehicle they don't offer these. I am wondering why. I also notice that the UTQG for these tires is 560 vs 280 for the Pirelli and the standard Contis. I wish I had known this before purchasing the nosebleed expensive Continental Premiumcontact 6 SSR tires...

2) the speed rating isnt the same for the front/rear tires so tire rack wont list them as a matched set. W/Y. Doesnt matter for our application as both are above the highest speed limiter the x7 has. The conti premium contact 6 is a pretty meh tire. Its a grand touring summer vs the pirelli which is an ultra high performance summer. Asking tire rack, they anticipate that the dws06 to match the dry perf of the premium contact 6 and to exceed the wet perf of the Premium contact 6. |

Got my dws06 installed last week as my Conti summer tires were done at about 16k miles. Softer ride overall, I think quieter too. Looks less sporty but overall not bad in looks department. Pleased with them and hope they are good for next 30k miles or so.

I was running the same dilemma having purchased used and car was ready for stock offset to be replaced. Other forum members were running 285/45/22 so I chanced it. Bought Pirelli Scorpion AS plus 3. Haven’t looked back. Just completed a 7k round trip from Ohio out west to the national parks and back. Tires are dead quiet have plenty of load rating and I ain’t going over 130. Also don’t worry about anything I’m running over with the added sidewall. BMW dealer wouldn’t recommend or support an install but also said nothing on recent brake fluid service. I had a local tire shop mount and balance. It’s tighter up front but no issues rubbing at all forward or reverse lock to lock and also when I’m in sport lowered. I ran the calibration through the head unit after the change and I’m only off 1mph to GPS nav most of the time going 90. This tire is the truck/suv (scorpion) to the sister line (p zero) they just came out with for high performance all seasons. Bonus is this tire has a prominent rim bump lip both on the fronts and back if you’re a curb junkie. I’m not but I like the look of these tires all the way around. 800 tread wear rating and I like driving spirited and don’t feel like I’m missing anything.

1) This may be a dumb question - when running square 285/45/22 are folks using the same stock 22" staggered wheels (9.5/10.5 i believe?) or are folks getting new wheels for their rears to match the front wheels? 2) If stock wheels, it seems the 285/45/22 can fit no problem on the stock 22"? 3) Where would you guys recommend purchasing a spare tire for the X7? |

9.5 and 10.5 are within spec for a 285 tire 2) most have reported no issue, but im guessing that might depend on how square the tire u pick is. 3) OEM spare, if you search the forum there should be a listing for the p/n. the other option is for the conti DWS06 plus. its avail in 275/40/22 and 315/35/22. on TR you need to search seperately, it wont come up as a matching set as the speed ratings are different front and rear ( Y and W, but its a non issue since both exceed the top speed of the x7)

I called BMW and got the part number for the spare - 36115A3E078. I have a wheel well in the rear, just unsure this will fit before purchasing it. Last question, and I know this I not ideal either, but has anyone found run flat options for the 22" stock wheels in all-season? |
