Steering wheel finish
Has anyone had any issues with the leather finish on the steering wheel. My car only has 6000 miles but the finish on the top third of the wheel is peeling off. I haven't used any harsh cleaning products, but it feels very rough and isn't pleasant to hold at all.

Looks like dirt build up from the pictures. Try wiping it with a damp microfibre cloth lightly

Have you been using hand sanitizer or moisturizer cream on your hands? During this pandemic a lot of people have been using both and both are not good for the leather on steering wheels.

Exactly...I learned from experience. My wife uses sanitizer and hand creams all the time her steering wheel started to peel (this was on her last Mazda CX-9).

The damage is on the area above the 10-2 position. It’s not somewhere that is regularly touched. The rest of the wheel is fine, so I’m not sure it’s sanitiser. I’m wondering if it’s UV damage (although unlikely)
Not something I’ve ever experienced before |
