BMW X7 #7 in 1st half 2022 luxury SUV sales in US

BMW X7 is the 7th top seller in full sized luxury SUV sales in the US for 1st half 2022.
It is also the only grower in the top 10 vs. last year.

Anyone know of reliability reports for the BMW X7 since 2019?

From the article (link below)

"The 2022 BMW X7 is the only large luxury SUV Consumer Reports recommends. The review swooned over the SUV’s sportiness, ride quality, and interior."

+

"In the BMW X7 review, Consumer Reports gave 5/5 to many aspects of the SUV. The transmission, lack of cabin noise, interior fit and finish, front-seat comfort, second-row comfort (equipped with captain’s chairs), overall driving experience, and overall comfort all earned perfect scores."

+

"Is BMW X7 reliable?
Consumer Reports gave the last three model years of the BMW X7 an average reliability score of 45/100. The BMW tied with the Lincoln Navigator and outranked every other large SUV. The 2022 BMW X7 earned a predicted reliability score of 3/5 or “average.” "

Are you referring to Lexus LS460? I thought it has a better reliability score than the X7. How did you like your old Lexus?

My 2003 LS430 which costs me over 2000 a year to service over the last 10. So, 1200 or so on the X7 is much better.

Let's see if the LCI X7 can hold its lead over the GLS during the 2nd half of the year.

Since the GLS has not made any big changes, can't see it overtake the X7. Unless the early X7 LCI start having issues. I expect mine in 2-3 weeks.

It's also now 20 years old. Service on an X7 in 10 years is going to be way more than that. Mine will definitely be gone by then.

Not necessarily, even taking into account inflation…. If you take care of your car, in general your car will take care of you - even for the long haul….

I'm planning to keep it for 10 years as I only drive an average of 3,500 to 4,000 miles a year...so my car will have less than 40,000 miles after 10 years. Since I'm a retiree this will probably be my last car. Due to the expected low mileage...I'm hoping it won't cost me much in repairs..

Bumping this thread. How can the pre-LCI X7 predictive reliability be so low when they have the X5 as their 5th most reliable cars. The only difference with the X5 I can think of that can fail is the air suspension in the X7...

My 2023 X7 M60i has about 4500 miles, it drives beautifully and I would have given it 5 stars had not been the three times I had to return it for repairs.
These include a faulty wireless charging plate. (Twice in the shop)
Brake booster system. (A check engine light popped up with no brake failure, I called the dealer and they took the X7. took nearly two weeks to replace and test)

I think it's due to these that the X7 had a hit on the ratings. If just on fit and finish (no rattles whatsoever, and here in the potholes capital on the planet, NYC) and drive excitment.

If I had to buy again, I would.

The more I read this forum the more I think I should be getting an LX 600 instead. But man does it drive like a boat!

Wow? What’s impressive is that GM sold almost 100,000 SUV’s last year from basically the same platform. Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban and the Escalade.

Very typical. They own that market. We previously owned an Escalade ESV (long wheelbase). The choices were it (or a GMC Denali XL) or the Lincoln Navigator Max. Jeep has now entered the XL market with the Grand Wagoneer but for decades it was just GM and Ford.
