You can disable the TC on the IS, if your buddy goes to Clublexus.com there's a thread that shows you how to do it.

I like Lexus, Toyota, Honda, Acura, BMW, MB and Porsche. I would like to own at least one from each in my life. Already own a Toyota and BMW. I think toyota makes great cars but all of them are ugly. I think honda's styling is way better and more sporty. I was gonna wait for the IS but didnt really like the back and it's a little cramped. I think BMWs are awesome cars! But to think it's the only car i'd ever want or own is a little bit of an overstatement.
All of them have problems though. I hate it when ppl think that THEIR car is the greatest. Those ppl would think a KIA is the greatest car ever if they own one.

PS-okay i said this when i first saw pictures of the IS. But does anyone else think it looks like the scion tC?? not te front but the sides.

This new Lexus IS talk is good in all, but don't forget E90 rules them all.

I've been reading this thread for awhile and have given some indirect thought about why I prefer the e90 over the IS.

I have nothing against Lexus or Toyota; I've owned 3 of them in the past and respect their reputation for quality and reliability.

Toyota has created some pretty nice vehicles for sport enthusiasts: 2000GT, MR2, the last generation Supra, etc., but they are diversified in the types of vehicles they produce. Their bread and butter Camry, Corolla and now Prius are also associated with the mark. Their luxury brand, Lexus, produces the ES300, which in my opinion, looks like a Camry. There must be something visceral about how a vehicle makes one feel. The IS250/350 reminds me it is a close relative of the Toyota Avalon, GS300, and Camry. God forbid someone seeing me drive it would mistake it for a Corolla.

The 3-series IS the bread and butter for BMW. It is a classic and if someone mistakens it for a 5-series, 6-series, 7-series, M or Z, I won't feel as bad.

Do I care what others think? Uh, yeah, but I'd still buy the e90 even if nobody was around to watch.

Narrow minded BMW Owners!!! hahaha... every car company has their advantages and disadvantages.. but all i know is that Toyota/Honda/Nissan all make great cars!! BMW is not the only one who makes great cars... Lot of them do.... It depends on your preferences... I always loved BMW since I was little kid in Korea... That's why I have a BMW right now... I could've gotten something cheaper but BMW is BMW... I don't have any regrets... And I believe Honda/Nissan/Toyota make great cars... I also believe BMW makes best cars...

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE BMW! It's a great car. Like you said, every car has its advantages and disadvantages. AND I too agree that Toyota makes ugly cars. The design needs more bling.

The back on the new IS is way too high - the lines just don't flow as nicely as they do on the E90.

I think the new IS is going to be a flop model, while BMW hit the bulls-eye with the E90.

BMW may have hit a bull's eye with the design of the E90, but their engine sure is a flop if the rumor about the 328/335 is true.

well, I don't know too much about what's going on with that, but these new engines have won awards for their innovation. These new Aluminum-magnesium engines are one of a kind. I'm not an expert on engines, but the outgoing E46 engine was a 4 cylinder 186 hp engine - the new 325 is an Inline 6 215hp - that's a huge jump.

I read a review of the IS this past weekend in local paper. Review stated most owners would have to push the front seat so far back that it would touch the rear seats.

I've got one- the 250. It's for my wife. It's very, very nice and luxurious, but they've engineered all the fun out of it. It's a girls car.

Just my .02

I am a car nut, that's why I own BMW. Thing is, this *...arrogance from people who think they the own a BMW, they are god and have no appreciation for other makes and models...* is found on most all car web pages. Most people are like this, no matter what kind of car you drive. Check out the Lexus and some other boards and I think you will find the same kind of arrogance.

You are so right about that. Even within BMW, everyone thinks their model is the best. When I went to the E46 fanatics forum and saw the comments ppl. were making about the new E90, I was shocked. 98 percent of the remarks were negative - I would expect that from maybe the Lexus forums or other car makers, but not BMW owners.

The bottom line is everyone thinks their model is the best and wants everyone else to feel the same way. In our case though, the E90 just happens to really be the best car out there.

This girl at my work just got a black IS250. Everytime I go outside I see her car parked near mine, if not next to it - even when I park in different places. I think she's stalking my E90.

Fatal attraction!!

Regarding BMW owner's hating on other BMW's...crazy!! I can't see how anyone loves their E36, e46, etc...but hates on the e90, or vice versa. I love BMW the car company.

85% of threads here and abroad are all *beating the dead horse*. Very few new topics ever come up.
