iDrive v03/2023.50

I am currently running v11/2022.50 in my 2021 X7 M50i. I got notified today that v03/2023.50 is available to download. When I read through the New Features and Improvements release notes in the My BMW App, the only language I see is "The Remote Software Upgrade updates existing functions for equipped vehicles and includes quality enhancements.". I don't see a list of the specific updates like I usually do. Do anyone know what specific updates are included with v03/2023.50? Thanks in advance!

I think it's just a few minor bug fixes for idrive 7 based cars.

Well one thing I recently learned is that you can no longer disable auto start stop with BimmerCode coding on 3/2023.xx, at least not for now and potentially never. If that feature is important to you, don’t install the upgrade.

You could still disable it. Just have to code the car to start in sport mode. (Or sport individual and then program sport individual to comfort or whatever settings you like).

Thanks all the the info. I have the auto start stop physical button and haven't coded anything. So I guess I'm okay to upgrade.

I would not do the update now. Cancel the auto-update function using the app, wait a couple more months, and proceed with it once there is more feedback from other users. In fact, I have no plans whatsoever to do March 23 update. ID7 is stable enough now with Nov 2022, and any future updates would have no positive impact if any on ID7, mostly will be focused on ID8 features/functions.

This is the position I’m taking as well.

Go figure November 2022 was buggy for me. My HUD CarPlay Apple Music playlists were never accurate to the playlists I was actually listening to. Always was prior to the update. Also the seats wouldn’t auto adjust to the specified key fob like they used to for the different seat settings associated with each. Again, always worked perfectly prior to the 11/22 update. I happily updated to 03/23. Updated this AM and so far at least the hud music playlist was accurate in my one drive so far.

How are you disabling it? Via the button next to the start engine button each time you start the car, or via programming using Bimmercode?

My bad. Unfortunately I tried BimmerCode and tried both disabling it and enabling the memory for it. Both said successfully coded but in actuality they don’t work anymore. I sure hope this gets fixed as I feel really stupid I upgraded as it’s definitely a step backwards for me.

OMG, I'm gonna go bald out of frustration.
Just got off the phone with a Service Advisor and he is indicating that BMW warranty will not pay for a manual software upgrade unless I am noticing a problem indicating the idrive software needs updating. Otherwise they continue to believe the Current Version (07/2021.46) is UP TO DATE as indicated by the vehicle and the App. I don't want to pay $313. I even indicated that I believe there are some additional settings in the new version but he says show that there is a problem. (I don't remember new settings that became available?)

Please advise on what I can do to convince them to upgrade under warranty before it runs out this month.

if you have drive assist pro, tell them the auto lane change is too abrupt.

I don't have the drive assist. What about lane departure steering, was that improved from abruptness?

FYI, I've had zero issues with the 03/2023.45 update. Probably over 4000 miles with it already and just drove 2 long road trips. Haven't noticed any issues.

Regarding lane change, it still feels about the same too me compared to 11/2021. Mine was never updated and dealer updated it at my last appt.

looks like one of the items fixed is lane departure functionality
you can say that its too harsh and it feels like its jerking the wheel

Just did a 300 mile trip yesterday with 03/2023.50 and the lane departure assist was less intrusive and smoother than it used to be.

Doesn't feel like I'm wrestling against the car anymore when it wants to "auto correct" the lane departure.

For those on 03/2023. Are you able to do oil measurements? I updated to 03/2023 last week. Had an oil change done at the dealer on Saturday. Now I can't measure oil. The start measurement button is always greyed out. no matter how long I've been driving. Before I call dealer and schedule something, just wanted to see if anyone else on 03/2023 can do an oil level check?
