Display & Lighting Turn-Off

If I have the Lock when Walking Away set, the doors lock and the interior lights and displays turn off as I am walking away from the X7. If I don't set it to lock when walking away, the interior lights and display stay on. Will they turn off after some period of time?

I would appreciate it if someone could confirm that the lights and display eventually go out on a 2024 X7 or don't under the above conditions. Thanks.

I set mine to turn off as soon as I click the lock button on the remote. Living in a city, I have not set up the proximity features for locking and unlocking the car. I forget offhand where in the menu the options live that I needed to choose for the instant off to happen. I set it this way as I wanted to minimize the ‘on’ time after I locked the car.

Thanks. I don't use the remote lock button when in my garage. I had mine set to lock as I am walking away from the vehicle and the interior lights and display would turn off simultaneously. When I disable the automatic locking and leave the vehicle in my garage, the interior light and the display don't turn off when I close the door. I have also waited several minutes and the lights and display stay on. I am wondering if they turn off after a delay, being concerned about battery drain. It seems that even if I leave the vehicle unlocked after I close the door the lights should turn off. I probably wasn't clear in my post.

Yes they will turn off after a while. I never locked my car in garage and the lights stayed on for some time after closing the door but would turn off eventually.

These cars have pretty good battery management where it will shut things off to prevent battery from draining.

I was hardwiring my radar and notice with my multimeter plug in that the car is energized for awhile even after being locked. It would take about a minute for everything to turn off. I also notice while vacuuming that it will shut down after a couple minutes if no one touches the screen when unlocked with keys nearby.

Apparently the BDC will turn off interior lights after 8 minutes after no calls on the LIN bus if you haven't LOCKED the vehicle (consumer shutdown).

If you press & hold the interior light button for 3 seconds, then it turns off the interior lights (permanently)

Or, after 20 seconds if you unlock the vehicle but don't open a door.

Excellent reply! I confirmed the operation as you described it. I didn't see that 8-minute timing in the manual. Can you tell me where that reference came from?
