Picking up X7 tomorrow

Our ordered vehicle arrived and will be ready for retrieval tomorrow. Some questions:

- any suggestions of what I should be aware of when taking delivery?
- thoughts on ext warranty? this is a purchase, not a lease...wife will drive this to over 100k miles (she is trading in her Acura MDX w/ 152k miles)
- curious if anyone else got the off-road package (when we take family vacations, I always hit the scenic unpaved trails)

Congrats. Don’t forget to ask for the thick all weather floor mats.

BMW will give them to you for free if you ask your dealer for them upon delivery. No, it's not some official policy, but they all do it. See, they all want you to give them high scores on the follow-up phone calls from the BMW survey group and they want your last impression of them at the dealership to be a strong one.

So on delivery day, say these exact words:

"The last time I took delivery of a BMW my dealer gave me the all weather mats as a thank you for a great transaction so I should expect them to be in the car from you, yes?"

And that's it. I have bought or leased 7 BMW's from 3 different dealerships in the last 12 years and they have all given me the all weather mats without even batting an eyelash.

Also, if you are planning on having 6 or 7 people in the car for a road trip you most definitely need a cargo box on your roof and therefore you should purchase the roof rails at the time of delivery because they tend to sell out at this time of year.

If you have never owned a BMW SUV you will be surprised at how little room there is for storage with all three rows up and running

Excellent advice. I will ask and try a leverage point. This is our first BMW, but I will mention that our past 2 Audi purchases included the floormats. =)

Am going to pass on the roof rails, but thanks for the tip. We got the towing pkg so I can add the hitch-mounted luggage rack if needed, or my bicycle carrier.

I purchased the 4 yr/48k mike warranty. I was given a price but after going home and researching more, found a lower price on BMW's website. I contacted my dealer and they honored the price. Do not pay more than the corporate prices...

You did not purchase a warranty; you purchased a maintenance plan.

Good advice. I encountered the exact same issue. The quote for Ultimate Care +3 was $900 more than what was on BMW website. So I sent a screenshot to my sales lady and she immediately replied saying they would honor the price.

For ext warranty, I went through a different dealer where I saved $2,500.

This worked. At first they resisted, but then they reversed their decision and gave us the all-weather floormats.

What did you do to make them change their minds after resisting?

congrats. it's a beautiful combo. I didn't see the blue noted in the config for the m-sport so I went with the arctic grey and coffee interior. It looked good on the showroom floor so I ordered one just like it..

enjoy your new ride!

I really don't know...my wife handled it with the sales girl before I arrived to take delivery. As I was driving to the dealership, my wife texted me and said she got the AW mats taken care of. Wife is an aggressive negotiator as part of her job, so watching her in action when we purchase vehicles is always entertaining.
