IMO this is no different than AMG treatment of their SUVs and even further brands like Lamborghini and Ferrari making SUVs. All companies want to maximize profits like it or not.

Too bad the grilles on the X5 and X7 look like shit. Glad we were able to get an F15 X5d.

Yeah, it is what it is....everyone does this now.

I especially love when people who either have never owned a real M or have owned a lowly-ass one make this argument (that the M name means nothing now).

No offense, but a lot of M people thought M cars were going south when BMW started coming out with M cars for friggin 2 series and 4 series, etc.

The M3 is iconic (and thus an exception) but I never saw the point of any other M cars besides for the 5 series and higher models....

It's the same with Benz....like really, you make an AMG for the CLA? What do those cost? $40k?

Since you probably have no need for a three row SUV why would it matter? Obviously you’re not the target buyer. It’s not like you’re comparing two direct competitors and choosing one over the other. You’re choosing the one that best fit your need.

I’m finding many of the negative comments in this forum come from people who are not in the market for a three row.

Call it what you want, but more power, more capable suspension and brakes is a great formula for pretty much any vehicle up to the point of maintaining comfort and reliability. That's where the M Performance versions are often in the sweet spot for me. I don't want a big M SUV or luxury anything, but M2, M Roadster or M3/4 are great. The 5 series is borderline now, as is the X3/4. Sure I like the idea of full blown M but not for much more than pride vs outright capability of I'm being honest.

I agree, there is a reason why any car manufacturer produces array of models. Those who have 3 kids or more will clearly know the value of X7 vs X5. So all bachelors please enjoy the M3 as we family people needs some excitement while driving with whole family and this is where X7 M5.0 comes to play . Nothing Against M3 just simply will not fit my family.

FWIW, here's a review of the M50i, including a listen to the exhaust note. Guy isn't fully in the know, but.. whatever. Love the white with extended shadowline trim. But note the cerium grey wheels and badges with it. Clashes, IMHO.

I could have sworn the M50i was supposed to come with an "M" in the glass shifter knob instead of "X". Frankly, I'd prefer it with the X, as I think it's embarrassing putting M badging on a non-M vehicle.

Somebody please buy this vehicle before the Hurricane comes and wipes it out.

Agreed. I asked my sales rep to see if I can get the 755M with black accents available on the 40i on my order. Going in tomorrow to finalize the order so hopefully I’ll have some good news. If not hoping to trade with someone who wants the cerium gray accents.

Yes, please let us know what happens! I would like to get the 752 all-black rims with M-sport. The MY2020 ordering guide has removed the restriction for these rims with the M-sport, but the USA configurator still shows it as not possible.

Good luck!

I will agree that white and extended shadow looks good as it gives good contrast. After debating back and forth I decided to leave the cerium gray on mine as I have black color and it would lose all contrast. I guess it is personal preference.

While I like the white with black accents (my current car), I think it’s gotten so common that a change to something different is welcomed by many. I personally like the cerium a lot, and like you, I ordered a dark color with the thought the contrast of cerium would look great. Based on pics of yours, I think we made a great choice lol! Congrats.
