LH slowed down. I don't blame Alonso for that.

Petrov's flight was crazy... the internet has already been pumping some of these out... lol.

But in all seriousness, I hope Petrov is alright... hes essentially sitting on the floor of the car and that must've been on hell of an impact to absorb.

Same thing happened to Timo Glock in Australia back in 2008, when his car hit the curb/grass and flew...as well as Sutil (?) in Singapore 2009....

I believe Petrov will be fine but a "WTF" moment for him to think for a few hours....

However, it is unfortunate that Lewis was the only one to truly be penalised from it as Alonso remained P6 and Lewis dropped to P8.
These are the key points, First they did not enforce the rule for the whole field, bullshit #1,

Next it was without a doubt whatsoever that it was Alonsos fault he slammed into the back of Hamiltons, what if he punctured Hamiltons tire and he went out of the points, I don't think anyone would disagree Alonso would deserve a huge penalty.

Finally, with the stewards having the option to choose their penalties it BS they chose one that only actually penalized one driver. IF they consistently enforced when they gave penalties and what the penalty was, I would not complain about that, but when they are all over the place with enforcement and severity it's BS.

LH did not slow down, FA confirmed he never lift off the throttle.

I think it was the perfect call after Valencia 2010 when Hamilton was given a drive through and comfortably retained position...and that being a podium spot.

Everything's even.

Where did you sit? I went back in '03, sat on the start/finish near the pit lane exit. Great track! Really nice amenities, and KL is a really nice city. If I remember correctly it was FA's first ever pole position.

Was sitting in the F stand. I could see the last corner, main straight, and 5-6 corners. Great seats.

Wasn't a fan of KL though. Dirty, people trying to rip you off... and nothing in the city could make you think there is multi-billion race going 30 minutes away. Nothing like Montreal in my opinion...

If you watched the race and believe the penalty is justified...so be it...
IMO both penalties for FA and LH are technically correct, but unfairly inconsistent...

A jerk. They're both whiners.

+1

That being said guys, this is racing, and I could care less about their personalities. I may not like Alonso's or Hamilton's attitudes, but I respect and admire their racecraft and driving abilities. I also respect that both Hamilton and Alonso did not act like sissies for a change, and simply accepted their penalties and have moved on.

I hope we have MORE Alonso-Hamilton battles in the future, and I hope the FIA stops meddling so much. In the past, some of their calls were pretty good: Hamilton-Raikkonen in Spa '08, Alonso jumping the start at China last year, etc.

But I strongly believe in situations like these, where the possible transgression is borderline, the benefit of the doubt should go to the driver. Alonso did make a mistake, but it really was no different than two drivers touching wheels, and ultimately had no bearing on Hamilton's race. And I've seen far, FAR worse go unpunished than Hamilton's 'blocking' move, too.

Surprising, where the heck did you stay? I thought the city was really clean and nice. That being said I only saw it at night, since we were at the track in the day.

I 100% agree about Montreal, I will be back there someday. Had an absolute blast at Montreal and highly, highly recommend everyone capable of doing so to attend that race.
