I believe McCain would've been elected president had he picked a better running mate.

"that Wall" being something to obstruct unhindered crossing of the border outside of normal ports of entry.

I've come to the conclusion that Trump would likely get his wall, or some version of it, if he simply wasn't such an asshole about it. Extortion is not the way to get things done.

Meanwhile, even if Trump eventually gets his wall, it will still take many years of litigation with the many private property owners who seem inclined not to sell. Sure, imminent domain might eventually prevail, but not overnight.

Years and years of problems ahead.

This is what makes term limits great though. I think the democrats are being the idiots here. Go negotiate some DACA bill, or make the $5 billion fund vague and allocate it to border security in general and not specifically to a wall.

Yes, Trump is being a dick, but lets be honest $5 billion isn't going to pay for much of a wall, and it's a very small percentage of the total budget. So why are the democrats wasting time and not just negotiating? Trump will be gone sooner or later, in the meanwhile give him what he wants so that you can get what you want. Giving him $5 billion for border security isn't going to really hurt anyone or suddenly put this country into a downward spiral. The democrats need to stop making this into a bigger deal than what it is.

As an immigrant, i don't care. Many can come with visa from europe and stay past their time.

The wall has another purpose...and that's politics..

5b aint going to do shit for a wall. didn't dems agree to 1.7b and trump won't budge on the number?

the amount of regulations, zoning, for every region it crosses whatever else bullshit that is going to take for the upkeep of said wall is going to be insane. not to mention the guaranteed vandalism and destruction that are bound to happen.

i thought mexico was paying for this wall btw

No, that's not what happened at all. Leader Pelosi is on record for offering literally $1.00 and no more; while POTUS has been quite flexible on the exact number for border security funding.

Disingenuous or ignorant? 🤔

Leader Pelosi hasn't offered more than $1.00 for border security when it is to include funding for a physical barrier.

I also want every illegal immigrant deported immediately.

If they had kids them too. I'm tired of this anchor baby excuse to let people who came here illegally stay.

I'm all for immigration if done legally.

If your first act in our country was to break a law then you dont belong here.

PERIOD

Damn you are really coming across as not understanding this at all. 🤦🏻*♂️

Umm... The Leader of the House of Representatives Pelosi is a critical person in this! Once an agreement is found between her and POTUS the government reopens. 💡 Your post reads like she and her $1.00 promise is irrelevant. Lol

To dismiss the detail of funding for a physical barrier like its irrelevant is either super ignorant, or completely disingenuous. You can remove me from being influential... POTUS cares about a physical barrier. Unless a veto proof majority is found, POTUS isn't signing the legislation. This reality makes any proposal without adequate funding for a physical barrier dead on arrival.

it's cute that you keep ignoring the promise that mexico is supposed to pay for the wall and how there is no plan on maintenance or upkeep.

I'm sure many of you saw my post in another thread about the wall but at this point, either build it or don't just do the damn job. If they build it will piss people off and there will positives and negatives associated with. They don't build the wall it will piss people off and there will positives and negatives associated with.

Id rather see a shit or get off the pot poll.

I'll chime in. NO ONE that wants a wall gives two shits who pays. The fuckin government waste so much money on nonsense. Wars, Bullshit war on drugs, Fuckin protecting our "friends" etc etc....

The money needed for a yuge wall with its upkeep is a DROP in the bucket

You may not care about the wall, but the key players are entirely focused on the funding of it. Surely you aren't thinking the country is partially shut down because of your position on the debate! :

The Mexico will pay argument is a distraction that has been addressed. To think people are actually basing their opposition to border security until they see a check from Mexico is completely laughable.

ignorant or disingenuous? most americans, including myself, are for border security. a wall is fucking stupid, and another waste of money. where are the fiscal conservatives on this one?

we'll see how the government shutdown plays out when it comes voting time.

The fiscal conservatives are in support of funding a physical barrier, just like Democrats were in the past, because they aren't buying the BS that it's a net negative on the economy. 💡
