According to the X7 Ordering and Pricing Guides in this thread here:
https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1546409 This is what the M Sport Package includes. Note that this is for the 50i. One thing I find interesting is that the M Sport Package is identical for the 40i, EXCEPT the 40i does not have "M Sport Exhaust" . |

You can get the M Sport Brakes without selecting the M Sport Package

I was just going to start a thread on this!
Here's my 4.0 M package and my question was about the sport transmission. However, I see the 4.0 doesn't get the exhaust and the 5.0 not the trans?! Regardless, what's is the "M" sports trans all about?! Second pic is my M5's trans shifter, etc., wonder how it compares....

Check out the pricing and ordering guides in that thread. It lists what is included in each package. I did a screen shot in a post above, of what is included in the 50i M sport package. The M sport exhaust is listed in the package for 50i, but not listed in the package for 40i.

Congrats on having a fancier shifter. While you can compare the technical aspects the two transmissions, you can't compare the two vehicles. X7 uses the same ZF 8HP75 transmission as the M5 - but different axle ratios and shifting behavior. Example, a M5 and my M550i share the same ZF 8HP75 torque-converter transmission. It's largely unmodified from one to the other, with each sharing the same eight transmission ratios while the M5 gets a shorter axle ratio (3.15:1 versus 2.81:1 in the M550i). The M5's converter locks up after about 3 feet of travel and stays locked. The more rigid mounting of the various powertrain elements, results in greater drivetrain stiffness in the M5. The 7-plus percent shorter overall gearing contributes a bit to the M5's generally more eager acceleration feel.

Looks like the M Sport also comes with the big fake air intakes on each side of the lower front. :
Not sure if the 50i has it but it's a deal breaker for me on the 40i. |

Lol. Doesn't sound like you're even in the market for an X7. Because if you were, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. You'd not buy the car based on that single detail, is preposterous

To each his own, but what's fake about them? It's the M front valence, same as on my M5, that is functional in creating downforce, etc....

Definitely appreciate that some like the looks of the sport package, some don't. I guess that's one reason BMW makes different options. For me, I think the front intakes on the sport give it a more sporty and athletic look, even for a big SUV. One of the primary reasons actually I'm interested in the sport package

Agreed Wild! Here's the "functional" M front on my M5, how's it not functional / fake on the X7?
