sanity check on offer
2024 40i was returned after 1 month as owner took delivery but then wanted a different color. (Story from dealer) so it’s being offered as a CPO with 1,800 miles on it. Clean Car Fax. Bought and serviced at dealer.
MSRP - $94,275 Offer - $87k I walked as I feel I can get a better offer on a new order, this will be considered used as I’ll be second owner, etc. what made me most annoyed was the attitude of the “Manager” who said “we price per market” and yet I told him nobody paid MSRP and now it’s used - I offered him $84k out the door and they wouldn’t budge. It’s been on the lots for 30+ days Am I being crazy? I am pretty confident I could order the same new and get about the same offer and better financing Gut check me. Thanks. |

I agree crap deal especially for 40i. I would go elsewhere but they will probably get that price from someone. A while back a nearby dealer had an X7M60 with several thousand miles and they were asking for $5K off MSRP or something like that. I think they sold it for that because of low inventory….

It's almost 8% off. Idk. Being used isn't going to change the value much if you trade it back in. There are a lot of people who don't care and simply want the vehicle.
I traded my 2024 X7 M60i after 4 months with 9k miles. They listed it for $108k. Msrp was $117,065. Not sure what they sold It for but I doubt it was less than $106-107k. I paid $113ish with dealer fee.(tax not added. I only paid small amt of tax, because I traded in 2021) They would only go 4% off at the time. |

It is a lot easier to get better deals with brokers….if you do it on your own, it is more work from your end…

Thanks. you did right thing by walking away. My friend closed a deal last weekend with 6% off msrp+2k incentives with 3.99% bmwfs. This is nva area. I have no idea on Texas market, but can't relate to buying at offered price in your case. If your aren't pressed to have a car right now, hold tight. Things will ease a bit after Dec as there will be lots of company car purchases in this month. You may not get good financing rate later but you might be able to bag better discounts. |

i would be wary of the story that someone traded it in because of not liking the color.
i would suspect a trade assist, i would ask for the service records. early in the production run the 2024s were suffering faulty brake boosters, and the parts delay was causing them to be bought back.

I was trying to find a good used CPO ‘24 40i or ‘23 M60i replacement for my ‘23 40i, and frankly I’m amazed at the condition of some of the cars dealers are showing. I’m talking crumbs, sticky goo on seats, ink stains in trunks, overt major scratches, clearly no detailing - all for single digits off MSRP even with ~20k miles. With no shame, little negotiation, just take it or leave it. Supply and demand I suppose - they know somebody else will come in and buy so why bother? Or maybe dealers in my region are just sloppy.
There really isn’t a whole lot to look at here in the 23+ model years. |

Thanks all! I went new and took delivery of a new Skyscraper/Black 40i yesterday. 6% off MSRP plus $2500 incentive. So ~9% off MSRP. I felt good about it and they were great to work with - had to drive a little out of the way to a different dealer but they were willing to earn the business.
