X7 M601 software version11/2023.25

Any help guys, Dealer updated my software a month ago. 2 days ago Remote Start engine stopped working. It disappeared from Climate Menu. Now I only have in the menu Pre-Ventilation. No more Pre-Conditioning --> Remote start engine.
I live in Ontario Canada and I am afraid the stupid government impose block on all remote engine start for environment reason!!!!

Have you noticed anything along those lines?
Been driving with it for a few weeks now but not seeing anything different. I had the earlier 2023 update as well before this and I did notice the changes you spoke of but can’t tell what this last change added or took away.

It says on screen that confusions are not let.

This means :

The feature is still there , or you wouldn’t be able to get to that screen.
And
Either the battery isn’t charged enough or it’s too cold for it to start working

Those of you with the 07/2023 version or above: do you have any issues with Spotify playing song A but showing song B on the screen? Also, the Spotify player gets really slow sometimes and hangs in the "loading" state.

I didn't have the issue before.

I think I am on the anti update train. ‘22 x40i running 03/2023.50 and everything seems to be working like it should. I don’t think I am missing out on anything.

Curious, anyone who has received the update via OTA have an in-app changelog that they can share?

Forced OTA by Dealer to get 11/2023.42

Hi all

Have had a nightmare trying to get the UK to issue OTAs and the dealer said that my Extended Warranty would be void if they upgraded the software and it blew the headunit

So they finally managed to force the VIN into the OTA system and lo and behold my 7.2020 became 11/2023.42

HOWEVER when I click on the app for what's new, it takes me to the 7.2023 page ..... Most of which isn't relevant to a 2021 X7 with IDrive 7

BUT last night I tried something after trying to find remote engine start, the ventilation HEATS the car if it is cold ! Not seen this before and am sure it is new but am over the moon as it is exactly what I was looking forName: 1000085926.jpg

Dogmatick Looks like you received an even newer version, ending in .42. My car is new to me, but yes, remote climate automatically heats (including turning on the heated steering wheel!) in cold temps, which is great.

Looks like the release notes haven't been posted yet. Not surprising given that we have yet to see evidence that this has made it to general availability via OTA.

The OTA isn’t out yet for 11/23 that’s why. It’s in pre release. With a wider release in February.

Yes, BMW can one time add VINs to force an update.

Mine was built on 12/23 and came with the 11/23 software. It is weird that it is not available to download OTA.

It’s not at all.
There’s a procedure for it.

Builds are always done with the latest stable release.

For OTA upgrades the following happens:
- internal BMW update testing
- external 3rd party testing
- release

This is why the RSU comes about 2 months after the “initial” release.

Upgrading vs clean install is a very different path ( clean installs are almost always safer ). If something goes wrong with a release at the factory then they don’t need to recall the car. If they send an untested version Out for 2 million cars and there’s an issue - big call.

11/23 will be rolling out in the next couple of weeks ( vehicle by vehicle )

Hi, was why I pasted the what's new page it linked to. They've not updated that yet lol

Also I reckon the .42 bit is likely a code variant for country etc

In reference to the OP - I think maybe it won't remote start if your fuel level is too low also? Mainly to say that there are conditions that need to be met to be able to remote start your vehicle and it may have nothing to do with a recent update.

.42 is the “patch” release ( thinking iOS 17 - 17.1.1 for example)

It co-respondent to the step from Ista:
11/2023.42 = S18A-23-11-542.
That was released about a month ago.

The most recent istep is
S18A-23-11-558
Each region will “pick” a release based on when they started.

That’s why the earlier RSU recipients get .42, while some coming out this week will get .58

Somewhat to my surprise, I got served 11/2023.50 over the air yesterday. Being on already 2023.25, it was a bit unexpected. I had read a comment on the forums previously that you typically only will be eligible for an OTA update if you are jumping a major release version; not a minor one.

Either way, glad to see that the update didn't impact my tune.

You are eligible providing there’s changes to your ecus.
In this case there are so lucky you

For those who have updated (I’m still on 11/2022) does BimmerCode have the ability to still turn off seatbelt chime? I’m reading mixed responses.

I just received a notification that the update is available for my X7. Those of you who have already updated, do you have any issues?
