Are We Ever Gonna Get LED Tail Lights??

the only thing i dont like about my car is the back...i feel like better looking/brighter tail lights would do it for me...what are the chances BMW/Vendors will come up with these?

I know I'm not the only one, but I HATE LED tail lights. If they're an option/OEM I don't care but I hope they never make them standard on the car. The plethora of little points of light looks like crap compared to one even glow. (Especially since we have the badass "light bars/tubes" in our tail lights)

While I think it might be until next year for BMW to come out with factory LED tails, there should ample opportunity for an OEM to come up with something nice.

Perhaps they were waiting to see if the 08 3er got the LED tails to see if they would be wasting their time.

LEDs are the way to go IMO - great visibility and instant on. Sure, there are some crummy designs out there but that's not inherently an LED problem.

You can use a diffuser to spread the light from an LED. Light pipes and other plastic geometries can be used to mask the light source while providing an attractive appearance. I really like LEDs because they are efficient and respond very quickly to a change in current. LEDs are more robust, so it is unlikely that LED light sources will have to be replaced as frequently as incandescent bulbs.

I'm certain we will...in another year or two. Just look at the E46's and the E60 5'ers. It doesn't really bug me that much though.

E90 "facelift" (Model Impulse, according to BMW) should have LED's. The E60, 61, 63, 64, 65, and 66 ALL got LED's at Facelift. As did the E46 before them.

If you dont like the look of the back maybe you should get some Blackline Tail lights from the factory. I have them on mine and it looks a whole lot better.

I read somewhere that by 08 or 09 all car manufactures are supposed to be changing over to LED lights since they are more environmentally friendly and cheaper.

For once they last longer and much brighter when brakes apply.

I really like the way our tail lights look. At least the E92s. Perhaps LED would be nicer but I am fine with what I have for now.

Cheaper??!!!! You can get a tupac of 1157 bulbs for less than $2. Um, the last time I inquired on replacing my led strip in the spoiler of my other car, which is dimming because of use/age, I nearly fell out of my seat. LED's fade before they fail. They look terrible when they're starting to go out. With incandescent, you just replace for a buck.

LED's are for style, no matter what anyone wants to say, just like fake dual exhausts.

On cop cars, trucks, yes, they get more attention and they serve a function. You think an Audi Q7's led tails are not for looks?

The second they come out with LED, it will be a mad scramble as everyone will try to score one for their ride.

LED lights are either instantly 100% on or off, lame. Regular bulbs have a nice steady glow that builds up and then dissipates. I do however like the way they balanced the LED bars with the lights; I hope they don't change that.
