Wheel compatiblility

I own a 95 325i convertible. I have a chance to purchase a set of wheels from a 540i. Is the lug pattern the same? I am new to this and tried to figure out the site conversion chart without much luck, or at least i doubt myself doing it correctly. Existing wheels on car are 205-60-15 and the new set up is: 235-45-17 michelin pilot alpin on tsw 17x8 Hockenhein R 5 lug rims? Is there anyway of telling whether these will clear and run ok?

Thanx,
Dennis

Those wheels should be compatible because they all have the same bolt pattern. However, I dont know how they will look on the 325 as the offsets are different.

Wheel compatibility

Okay,
This is where i am real green. How can i find out what the offset is, (I am assuming this would be the distance between the landing area at the hub and where the wheel actually sits in relationship to the center of the car) So the wheels might stick out beyond the fender, or actually rub on the disc brake rotors or steering linkage? So the only real good way would be to mount them and check?, or is there a chart some where. Any help is appreciated.

Your car is E36, and the donor car is likely E39. This forum is dedicated to E9x cars; while somebody may bite, you will find your answer much easier in E36 dedicated forum.
