DHP and Tire Wear

I was talking to the sales person about adding DHP to my order and he said to expect a lot of rear tire wear even with 21" A/S R/F. I have a feeling he may be trying to get me to buy one off the lot without DHP. He knows I am on the fence with it and they have none with DHP or B&W, both of which I thought I wanted. Any one have experience with this? TIA

We have an X5 and an X7M50i and the X7 has DHP. It handles better than the X5 IMHO and the turning radius is far superior even though it is a bigger vehicle. To me if you are spending the bucks for an X7...you should get what you want....don't settle. I don't have the B&W and I can say the H/K is totally fine. It isn't amazing but I wouldn't expect to sit in my car for amazing. Sounds great as is on 4-5 hour car rides. Good luck!

Do not settle, get what you want because you don’t want to have the “I should have” thought running thru your head 1-2 months down the line. At this price range, this purchase should check as many boxes at possible. Unless he’s offering you a smokin’ deal, can you go to another dealer to at least test out the features?

DHP is a huge help to make the X7 feel like a smaller car. It’s a huge help for me in daily driving maneuvering around parking lots and tight spaces. The U-turn radius is smaller than my XC90. Maybe it causes more wear but i suspect it’s going to be in the noise as majority of the tire wear is coming from the fact that X7 is really heavy. At higher speeds and on twistys, it does feel more responsive for something this big, especially in sport/+ setting.

I haven’t listened to the H/Ks but I didn’t want the “I should have” thought and my XC90 had B/Ws so it became a must-have for me. My goodness, the sound is sublime with the right media. Coupled with the sound insulation, it really makes my X7 my private sanctuary making my 1hr+ commute more tolerable.

I have DHP and haven't really experienced any higher than normal tire wear. I would absolutely option DHP again. Our X7 handles better than our previous X5 did and I'm certain DHP has a major hand in that.

this sounds like FUD to sell a car on the lot

DHP is a game changer. my X7 with DHP can maneuver tighter than my former X3.

I have DHP on my 2020 x7 m50i - the car chews through the stock summer tires like nobody’s business but the rears are no worse than the fronts. I think he’s either misinformed or trying to sell you a different car. I wouldn’t settle

Also the b&w is amazing.

We don’t have DHP- wasn’t offered when we bought it. Living in the city, wish we had it. Not sure about the tire impact.

We do have BW and it is the best system we’ve ever had. We’d absolutely get it again. While not a key driver- the kids love the lights. One dealer we went to tried to sell us on HK. Similar- he had none with BW in the lot. Suspect that he wanted us to buy one off the lot (we custom ordered).

That explanation is complete baloney. DHP does not eat through tires or make them wear any more. What it does provide is superior handling turning this 6000lbs behemoth into a very nimble machine that drives much smaller than it is.

Get it and get the B&W too, you will not regret it. Find a broker and order from factory, plenty of decent discounts to be had.
