"Vehicle Inspection" Service Due Error

My 2024 X7 is showing that I have a "Vehicle Issue" and it's saying I have a "Vehicle Inspection (Next state inspection due soon)" due next month. The vehicle is 10 months old and I live in a state (CT) where inspections are due every 2 years.

My local dealer service department was not helpful at all and said I should take it to get an inspection because they don't do inspections at that dealer. But when I said it wasn't actually due, he said then you have to bring it in to them to look at it but if it was an inspection they couldn't do that.

Anyone seen this issue before and if the car's computer timeline is off is there any way for me to fix it rather than waste a day dealing with service center fixing it (I live quite far from my closest BMW service center). Or does the car actually detect inspection issues and it's telling me to get it inspected earlier than it needs to be inspected??

Thanks for any insights.

If the newer versions of iDrive are anything like the older versions...the statutory inspections can be adjusted/changed by pressing down on the iDrive controller knob...which allows a new date or time to be selected for the next statutory service. Statutory inspections were proceeded by a squiggly icon vs the BMW CBS (required) services.

Since not all municipalities or local governments require the statutory inspections...it doesn't require any special equipment to select the a new date or reset the inspection.

Again, see if you can make the changes to correct the date by using your iDrive controller. You can see an example below (of older iDrive) where the 7/2019 inspection was changed using the iDrive controller, to a later 4/2020 date.

Looks like your dealer entered a bad date during PDI. You can go in and change it.

Thanks! This was such an easy fix, I wish the service person at BMW that I spoke to was as helpful and informed.
