Thoughts on Leather Dashboard?!

Is it worth it? Is it easy to maintain in Texas heat?

I've had it in my X5 since 2019, including multiple weeks where it has been sitting outside in the Georgia heat. It's held up without any wear. I usually do leather treatment on the seats once every 4-5 months and do the same on the dashboard. No issues

Compared to it and the Sensatec, the leather dashboard is much richer

Leather dashboard is a must-have for me personally. Compare to the old plastic/Vinyl dash it really feels like a huge upgrade, and you have to look at the dash every day!

I had leather dash on my X5 and my m6, they are very durable and still look brand new after years.

From the photos of 2023 X7, I think the non-leather dash also looks very nice - it might be made of sensafin now & looks very close to leather. But I still ordered full merino leather which comes with leather dash.

I sat in an X7 recently with the sensafin dash, and it looked really good and material quality felt great.

That being said, I'm still optioning it with the leather dash - I feel if I'm paying close to $100k for this car, it should have as much leather in it as possible.

Leather dashboard is durable and looks great. If you want extra heat protection just get ceramic tint for your windshield, windows, and sunroof.

I have leather dashboard in my 2019 M5C in Texas and it's held up fine. We ordered it for my wife's X7 M60 as well. I think it's hard to go back to a non-leather dashboard after having one.

When Leather dashboard option is added, Apart from Dashboard getting leather, Are there any spots like the door tops or steering wheel that get leather as well? or they all part of Full Merino leather package??

The steering wheel is leather by default. The door tops getting leather is a part of the full merino leather option for the seats.

We got extended Merino leather and the leather dash option. Our door tops and center console came with leather (in addition to the dash).

Interesting... didn't know that. So then is the full leather option really only for the lower dash?

I'm curious how the standard Sensafin dash compares now. Previously Sensatec looked nothing like Merino, but Sensafin looks much closer in grain...

Merino is still definitely smoother, but I did sit in an X7 recently with the sensafin dash and it looked and felt great. Definitely wouldn't fault anyone for ordering it in sensafin.

So it didn't look as out of place? That's great to hear, Sensatec always looked so cheap compared to the Merino seats.

I was just looking through some of my pictures (wife has the car right now).

Ours has the dash, upper doors and upper center console in leather.

Does not appear the lower center console or lower dash is leather. So I guess(?) that's what the full Merino option adds.

Not at all, it was a big improvement over Sensetac. I have sensetac dashboard on my X5, and while it's not bad, it's nowhere near as nice as the sensafin I saw on the X7 last week.

You spend all of your time in the car looking at it. If you can afford the extra it's a no brainer. MKes the car looks much more "rich".

Full Merino interior has the entire door panels and other parts covered in leather. Huge difference from Extended Merino.

I love my full ivory merino. Only place you can get it now is on the XB7.

I didn't know full merino isn't available on the X7. At least it's still offered on the X5M.

Full merino is available on the X7. White, Black, or Tartufo.....
