Finally here! (24 X7M60i Dravit/Tartufo)
Just arrived today. Ticked most boxes (just not captain's chairs). Last two pix show some of the "full leather" adds. More thoughts once I get some wheel time.

OK I have put about 50 miles on it so far.
Trying to comprehend a few things. First my frame of reference is my wife's '21 X5. I expected this to be pretty much identical to the X5 just with more space behind the 2nd row but in fact feels more massive in pretty much every way. The only way where it feels different curiously is spirited driving - where it handles better than my wife's X5 (!). I wonder if this is a result of the DHP. Its stability on sharp turn ins/switchbacks is pretty incredible considering its mass. Drives like a much smaller car. Not quite a 5-series, but not bad. And definitely a sublime comfort tradeoff (compared to a Cayenne...) The interior is sublime. Now granted, I do think the new 7 series interior is nicer, but the X7 interior is a total cut above the X5. Again a bit surprised by this because they look so similar in photos. It's pretty much down to materials (full merino leather in mine vs. vernasca + sensatec + plastic in wife's) and little details - e.g. the metal buttons for the window switches etc, the little electric bits, extra accent lights, etc etc. It just feels perceptibly more luxurious. I tried out the highway assistant thing briefly. I admit I don't understand some of these semi-autonomous driving things. If you can't trust them to take on a task completely, how could you ever trust them? It made several corners but missed one and had me veering across another lane & had to bring it back manually. Feels very tech-nerdy at this point. But admit I don't travel far on the freeway and don't really use cruise control so may be wasted on me. Downside of having the climate control in the iDrive is that a standard action for me is to get into the car on hot day and push Max A/C. But also to get in and throw it into reverse to pull out of park. If you do this in the wrong order, the climate screen cancels the camera screen, at which point you're mid maneuvre and then you need to find the camera button.... So much rage for them having changed where everything lives again with this new app centric UI. But enjoy at least that I can create shortcuts for individual CarPlay apps as if they were part of ID. Just wish there was an easier way to keep my shortcuts handy. Not all hard buttons are bad, BMW!

Feels like the same soft merino leather as the seats. Just pulled tight over a plastic frame (i.e. not padded).

I see! Didn’t realize that’s part of the full leather package. It seems that 21s (maybe all pre-LCIs) have black on that part of the seat even with full leather. So I figured it was sensatec but must have been mistaken. The color matched leather looks very good.

So I've been analyzing the suspension feel more compared to my wife's X5 45e on 19" wheels - which has thus far been the most comfortable car I've ever driven in. Compared to the X5 the X7M60i has a bit more perceptible road "texture" feel coming through - but unlike in my M5 none of it is harsh. It's more a "you can tell it's there" vs. "your bones feel it's there whether or not they want to" (M5) and "you can't even tell it's there" (X5). The downside of the treatment in the X5 is that I believe handling/body control suffers a bit in the corners. Moreso than any BMW I've driven in recent memory, this X7 on 22s + air suspension manages to hit a pretty awesome balance between high comfort and performance. I definitely believe a lower car (like a 7-series) would handle even better, but with other tradeoffs.

Looking stunning! From what I saw on the website, the 2024 models with the m sport professionals package would have the rear chrome cross bar between the taillights blacked out, would you confirm?

It's not quite blacked out. It's like a darkened translucent band. Definitely not bright Chrome.
I am thinking the badges would look better blacked out. I might work on that next.

You are correct, I forgot that the Ivory option color matches the seat backs.
However here is an example of a full leather Tartufo from a current listing where the seat back is in black: Another image of the car showing the front lower dash: |

Are you sure that's actually full leather and not just extended + leather dashboard option? Leather dashboard option gives you the underside of the dash. The full leather option gives you the seat backs + the lower door cards around the door pocket. Does the listing show any pictures of the lower door? If the door pocket doesn't have stitching around it then it's not full leather. It's possible the listing info was input incorrectly by the dealer.

Yes, short of physically inspecting I am reasonably close to 100% sure.
The lower door panel pictures are a bit grainy so it's a bit difficult to make out the stitching: But the lower dash is clearly tartufo and a vin decoder shows full leather. ETA: just reread and saw your comment about lower dash being an option with leather dashboard, I didn't realize that. However the decoder shows full leather. Here's a different example of a tartufo interior that clearly shows lower door panel stitching with black backing on the seats: Last edited by machareus; 05-23-2023 at 11:34 AM.. |

Weird. Yep those are definitely the full leather lower door cards. My only guess then is that this is a change post-LCI. Looking at the earlier photo of the ivory interior, it's not clear to me the seat back is leather (instead of just ivory colored) & the map pocket is certainly not quilted like it is in the LCI w/ full leather. So it may be they could only do the seat backs color keyed in some colors but not all, but they fixed that for LCI.
