Need new rotors advice

I need a little help yesterday I got my new wheels and tire installed and noticed all my rotors have a lip at the top and bottom of the rotor.

No issues with braking seem very stable when brakes are applied.
Previous owner change pads only at 29k miles, and I'm currently at 42k miles.

How do I determine what size rotors is needed on all 4 corners?

Year: 2020
Make: BMW
Model: X7 xDrive50i Sports Activity Vehicle

[2NH] M Sport Brakes ( Are the rotors 1 size for front and back)?

Who has the best deal on these parts?

I seen a YT. video on changing them out looks easy.

Thanks for any help.

If you currently have no issues with the brakes, no noise or vibration, why would you want to replace them now?

Wait until you need pads, and then replace everything. If you replace just the rotors now without doing the pads, you will create more problems than you will solve. You might as well get your money's worth out of the set you have.

Not sure the spec, but you can measure width of rotor to determine if it is within specified parameters. Usually there is a wear limit based on some millimeter scaled measurement. If it is, no action needed. The lip at the top is due to the pad not covering 100% of the surface. This is normal. You can have rotors turned to remove this if it’s an issue to you and/or you have some vibration in the brakes.

the min thickness of the rotor should be stamped on the hat. just having a lip doesnt mean it need to be replaced.

FCP euro is an interesting vendor to buy brake parts from.
lifetime replacement-- even wear items.
from what i gathered:
1) buy set of (in this case rotors)
2) wear them out, order a replacement.
3) ship worn set back to fcp euro
4) they refund the replacement order.

note that you need to have a first order from them, ie: you cant send back your first set of worn out parts since they didnt come from them.

i priced out a set of OEM rotors and pads for my MSport brakes and it came out to 1500 bucks or thereabouts. will probably go with them once i need to replace the brakes, but i suspect that will be quite a few years from now at the rate i drive.

A forum member posted an excerpt from BMW's TIS several months ago that spec'd the minimum rotor thicknesses as 34.4 mm (front) and 26.4 mm (rear) for the X7 M50i. (Thicknesses new are 36 mm and 28 mm, respectively.) Any brake service shop can measure your current thickness and tell you if the rotors can be machined (if scored or warped), if they need to be replaced, or if they're still OK.

Interesting to note that BMW mandated their dealers purchase brake lathes in the days of the 4 year 50k "free maintenance", no doubt in an effort to cut their exposure.

It boomeranged so badly with rotor warpage complaints that the "resurfacing" efforts were quietly dropped and now the lathes stand idle................

I want to thank everyone for there Pro Tips. Tons of knowledge on this forum.

I will wait a little while until I start having some issues in that Brake dept.

Next week I will have my 1st service appointment so this will be interesting .

My driver soft close door actuator stopped working 3 days ago but the door is still functional. The SUV didn't throw no code out for that problem.

Part is $601 (51-21-7-444-677.

Hopefully BMW warranty will kick in.

Thank you everyone.

i recently priced it out.
rockauto has the best prices for the parts.
OE Brembo two piece uv coated rotors front, brembo ceramic pads- 700
for the rears on the M50/M60i you need to go bmw, those are 500 for the pair, so total parts is 1200.
