Had crossed my mind but then you're looking at a sports saloon compared to a full sports car with weight and aerodynamics coming into play and various degrees of technology hidden from view, hence the price I reckon.

My guess would be the production costs of the Boxster engine are higher than the V8. Not sure whose V8 they use either be it Audi/Lambo or their own. Weight is also not as much of an issue in a heavier lump like the Cayenne and Panamera, neither of which are balls out sports cars. |
