oil leak on e87 118i
hey guys
ive recently noticed that my E87 has been leaking oil from the strangest places. i asked around locally with a few friends who also have the same problem with their E87's. does anyone know if there is a solution to the problem as a few of the friends have tried even with servicing but the problem still persists |

Where is your oil leaking from?
Maybe you mean your engine is USING oil between services? Why not take it to BMW dealer and have them fix it for free? |

Hi,
I am also having this problem, if i park the car for 1-2 days, i noticed the oil leak, if i drive the car every day, then there is no leaks. Does anyone know what exactly is the cause of this, as it leaking from somewhere, and being collected by the under cover, and leaking down to the middle of the car. |

Hi Guys,
I had an oil leak and hat the Oil cooler gasket and New rocker cover gasket replaced, seemd to be fixed for the moment (E87, 2005, done 133k). Secondly, there was a thump in the gear box, and was serious when it stlled at a traffic light and i could only rev the engine and no drive.....got very worried...then reset the ECU ....by insering the key, pressing start to get the igition menu (engine is not started), then pressing the acclerator for 25-30 seconds, then turning the ingniton off, and taking out the key. Wait for 2-4 minutes, the engine made noise (gear moving, clicks etc). the ECU is now rest, drove and the problem fixed. Now, the remaing problem is that the coolent sign keeps comming back even when the collant if full.... HOW DO I GET RID OF THE COOLANT SIGN????? Any other known issues???? |

I also have the same problem. I parked the car for 3 weeks and I noticed an oil patch on the floor under the steering wheel. I then drove the car for a short distance and I cannot notice any more oil leakage. Does any one know the root cause of this? |

Just got the car back from the dealership. They replaced the oil filter housing gasket and vacuum pump and the cost was $1,300. Will observe whether there is any more leak.
